rhythmworx
Them poor elephants. Breaks my heart seeing owned elephants, they shouldn't be owned, they should be out tearing trees down and feeding. I respect your posting of the photos though.
Goshawk
Breaks my heart seeing owned elephants, they shouldn't be owned, they should be out tearing trees down and feeding. me too . . . trouble is, there's nowhere for them to go in 2014 my friend. No REAL wild places left in Thailand . . All of the NP's are nothing more than just managed open zoo's. Sad fact but the Truth.
cooked
Their being owned shouldn't be a problem. However there are too many confirmed stories of elephant mothers being killed so that the babies can be captured, smuggled in from Burma, very, very badly treated in order to 'break' them, and finally abandoned when they are no longer of any use, no medical care. There are no 'elephant whisperers' in Thailand but I'm sure it could be done. I live two hours drive from Surin and I am not going to pay ฿1000.- to support this cruel industry.
