Buying online in Thailand, does it work?

Featured Replies

When I lived in the states, I made many purchases online and really liked it.

The selection, the price, and the service allwere usually pretty good.

I would like to buy online from Thailand, but have yet to do so.

I suspect I may find better quality items and a better selection online then I find in retail stores here in LOS.

My number one fear is delivery of whatever I purchase.

I have had more than one bad experience with things being mailed to Thailand that never arrive.

Is there any duty to be paid if buying from outside of Thailand?

I would appreciate any input and advise from anyone who has experience buying online from Thailand.

Thanks in advance!

depends on what your buying and from where. i make online purchases all the time will little trouble.

I buy a heap of stuff online from clothing to electronics to motorcycle/car parts, never had an issue with the postal system.

Yes some items require duties to be paid.

My experiences

Anything you sign for arrives.

Anything you don't sign for seldom arrives.

Imports can attract huge tax bills.

Internal purchases, no problems.

But most of the online purchases in Thailand expect you to transfer money to their bank account first via ATM.

Then you just confirm payment by email and they send the item next day, usually delivery is very fast.

I have used

9sats.com - very cheap and fast.

http://www.invadeit.co.th - no problems

always put it in your wife name safer to do this

@johnmarhall - no John, I won't marry just for the reason of mail ordering. On the other side it works very well.. Just received some valves from dx.com without problem as usual.

hmm yes but first you have to go to, "do you believe what you read online at thaivisa?" vast amounts of stuff that is contrary to policy goes missing from here, add that to vast amounts of BS and obvious advertising. so you have to add 1 suspect to your original suspect before you can form an opinion.

me personally i stopped using thai post years ago. if i want to send things i do it when on visa run to malaysia or more critical stuff send from singapore.

read it fast because this post will probably disappear.
