What should the rules of politics be ?

Featured Replies

Yes yes, I know we are all just 'guests' here and no Thai people give a crap what we think so let's not have any of those sort of comments please, but let's just talk about it anyway. Given that most of us can agree the system is broken and it needs a new constitution, let's give some ideas. They can be as sensible or as silly as you like. Let me start with some serious ones.

If you are made an MP, nobody else in your immediate or extended family is allowed to serve in government at the same time as you. As and when you leave your position, other members of your family will be allowed to serve if elected.

Why do they keep getting 5 year bans for bad behaviour ? If they are caught breaking the law, subverting the constitution, generally doing bad things and found guilty, they should get a life ban from politics.

ALL public spending should be completely public and transparent with an accounting office that will make all records public for anyone who chooses to scrutinize. This would make corruption a little bit more difficult.

These 3 alone would make an enormous difference to the landscape of politics in this country in my opinion.
