have read every relavant post about tourist visa for thai gf to aus, thanks all for such a wealth of info. have tried to follow all the advise such as stat dec of our relationship, when we met 7th sept, time together [3 months] over 2 trips, and giving my financial support .authorised coppies of my financials, letter from accountant , tax return, buisness registration and property ownership and phone email history, pics of us [20], copy of my pasport

Om finished uni last year and has only worked 3 months, her company has given her a letter saying they are aware she will be going overseas for 3 months but no guarantee of employment on return. I put a substancial amount of cash in her bank only 1 month ago [engagement dowery, but not official yet and havent mentioned potential engagement in application].realise its not good to put lot of cash in her bank just before visa, but was intending to fly to thai myself then she agreed to have a go at coming to aus.

she is 24 and cant show real reason to return to thailand is our weak point, there is a huge age gap between us, tho she looks 30 and I look 40, hopeing it wont be an issue with the powers that be.

she has her family book, uni record, letter about us and her itinery, letter from work , passport, so lets hope we are lucky first time.

she will apply on 16th may so will let all know how it went.

just in case it is of some use to other tourist visa applicants.

if anyone has any advice would appreciate it.

cheers thanks again and good luck to all, ozyogi

Not too sure if it is of any benefit, but I actually had my Father (or other family member) write a letter to the embassy c/o me stating that we are engaged but before my family were to agree with the marriage they felt the need to meet her.

We were only together a very short time beforehand too, so not sure if it helped, but we got the visa so it certainly didn't hurt.

It was actually the first time marriage had come up, and didn't come up again until she was 7 months prego. (now we have been married 3 years and have two kids)

Best of luck mate.

Look forward to hearing how it goes.

3 months might not be enough to prove you have a valid relationship, 6 is far better.

Make sure you have lots of documentation like phone bills, tickets, emails etc etc etc.

Good luck

You don't need to prove a genuine relationship for a T/V application but there is no harm in mentioning it.

Your g/f's employer has provided documentation stating that she is his employee but that her job may not be kept open during her absence. In her covering letter she should state that it will be her intention to return to Thailand to resume work with the same employer. She could also state that she needs to return to Thailand to fulfil family commitments.

A reason to return should be mentioned in the application.

Don't worry about the age gap. It means nothing for a tourist visa and very little for a spouse visa.

From what you have written, I'd say you have the rest of the requirements well covered.

Good luck.

i will getr my mom [88] to write and say shes looking forward to meeting om and how she has spoken to her on the phone, might help.

mighty mouse

Her company is contracted to the thai government and the letter from company tells her employment time [tho they made a mistake and put march 2005 instead of 2006 so looks like she has worked there 15 months instead of 3] and pay and says " for visa application, om will be going to aus on 15 june till 14 sept" but dosent specificly say she wont be employed on her return, but dosent say she wont either, but verbaly they have said they will be happy to have her back. So will get om to write in her letter she intends to return to her job.

Good luck with it.... :o

khutan

Hi all, put oms tourist visa application in on friday 19th at 2.30 pm and suprise suprise only a few other people there and the staff were friendly and helpfull to my little om.

they said ring next thursday and see if here passport was back by then.

She rang thurs and no passport yet.

The next day friday at 9am she gets a phone call from a woman, quite friendly , she says they need more info, clarification on my first visit to see om in thailand and more proof of our relationship.

Also asked questions about me and our plans and what she will do on her return to thailand, and when we became boyfriend/girlfriend.

Then another woman rang in the afternoon and asked a few more simlar questions.

They are certainly spending time on oms visa.

So I have approached my travel agent and managed to get a copy of my recipt and itinery for my trip to thailand, wrote another letter with all the relavant dates again, repeated myself and included every little detail.

Om wrote another letter with all the details of our relationship and we have included more pics of us together that are very similar to the first lot but what the heck.

Feel pretty positive, they could have just said ...NO

so should find out maybe thurs or friday.

cheers ozyogi

It's difficult for we advisers in this forum to make predictions on the success or otherwise of any application.

To me, it seems strange that they have asked follow up questions about your relationship. I can only guess that you promoted your relationship in the application and relied upon it as a means of gaining a tourist visa.

The need to provide a rock solid reason why she should return to Thailand has always been a requirement. The company letter that you provided should have been enough to satisfy them.

You state that you wrote another letter giving similar information to that already provided in the application, but giving them dates of your upcoming trip to Thailand.

I feel that it would have been prudent to include strong, additional information in your letter to better support your application. Perhaps more of a reason as to why she wanted to visit Australia.

Obviously the embassy is not completely satisfied with what they already have before them, otherwise they would have asked questions.

Anyway, you will know soon enough. Fingers crossed. :o

These are the same sort of questions that they asked my gf over the phone before she was issued with the 12 month multi entry visa, others have also reported the same thing, no further documentation was required or asked for....I take it you ticked the 3 month box on the form??

This would be the likely situation but you can never tell.. :o

Good luck :D

I had a very dissapointing expereince with the Aussie Embassy in Bangkok. When they turned my then girlfriend down they stipulated that my situation was not in question re: support etc. But her failure to demonstrate any valid reason to return to Thailand. re: her employment in there eyes was not credible.

In your case, having her employer putting their oar in and saying her job would no longer be available to here due to her absence is really the sticking point with the Embassy.

I really hope you get lucky. but if not, then be very careful before you decide to do anything rash. Though, I am sure if you were married already, then it would be a completely different ballgame

Good luck mate.

Both times I have listed my girl as unemployed and had no problem...the only reason she has to return to Thailand is her son, which in their own words is not reason enough.

I dont know what you put in her application, but it was obviously something that they didnt like.

Hi I checked with om and she is shure they asked mostly about me, and us, and mmouse is right we did say the main reason for the visit is to meet my family and progess our relationship, they asked what our plans were for the future , when we became bf/gf, so we have given more info on our thoughts where our relationship might be going and my talks with her family about possible future engagement, sinsod etc, felt all along best to tell the truth when asked while keeping within the visa [tourist not fiance]

you would think the lack of a assured job to return to would be the sticking point, tho they have said verbally they will re employ her when she returns after 3 months, and we said so in the new and first lettes ,but the embassy must know no thai employer will hold a job for you for 3 months

Has anyone had experience with getting a New Zealand tourist visa for thai gf when in aus, you would think it would be easier having had an aus visa already approved???

And do you think the girls age is a factor, like young girls possibly being more prone to act on a whim and become an overstayer??

and yes she ticked the 3 month box on the application....wouldnt a 12 month visa be fantastic!!!!

:o cheers ozyogi

If she gets a single entry visa she will not be able to re enter Oz if she goes outside of the country, If she gets a 12 month multi entry visa then it shouldnt be a problem. Remember the multi entry allows for visits of 3 months at a time only.

Ahhh of course excelent advice thank you gburns, so the side trip to NZ is not on without a multiple entry visa.

unless perhaps you fly from nz and just transit via australia back to thailand??? perhaps 3 months aus and 1 month nz tho the weather is shitty there unless you go to the snow, and thats not cheap.

thanks ozyogi

i´ve read most of that case but i think mine is a bit different and want know some opinions.

i´ve been 1 year in thailand and ve been together with my thai gf for 8 month. i am an german passport holder and now in sydney with an 1 year working holiday visa.

my gf tried to aply for a 3 month tourist visa to OZ and we didnt expected that they wont let her in.

they ask her why she should trust me? i offered support while she stay here in OZ and transfered the money for the ticket to her account. she showed the pictures and emails of us to evidence our relationship.

now i try on monday to call the lady in bkk who rejected her visa. and ask her what else is required to get her the visa.

would it be easyier if i fly to bkk and we aply together?

she is going to sell her land on monday worth of 20000AU$ (is not the reason but is that helpfull to get visa?)

i would be appreciate about some opinions.

thanks in advance
