I entered the Kingdom on October 26th. I have a multi entry Non-O based on age / retirement. Normally I would do a visa run in January. I am planing a trip to USA in March. Can I get an extension on my 90 day until March without having to do the visa run? I am not interested in a retirement visa (O-A) as this is an exception as I normally leave anyway every 90 days. Thanks.

You can only get a 1 year extension, with proof of 800,000 baht in a bank account in Thailand OR an income of 65,000 baht a month OR a combination of yearly income and money in the bank in Thailand of 800,000 baht.

Your only other option is to leave the country and return.

I'm constantly amazed by the patience and good humor of the TV members who reply to the almost daily questions about visas, extensions, 90 day reporting, etc. Whoever says that the majority of the posts on TV are negative must not be watching what appears on the site very closely!

The forums that deal with Immigrations & visas or specialized interests like Thai language, Buddhism, computers, etc are generally quite good, useful sources of information and generate helpful, well-mannered responses.

Those are usually not the threads that generate the negative posts (although issues of Immigrations can sometimes veer off the objective into the emotional). The criticisms about Thai bashing and the constant whining from the glass-half-full crowd are centered around the "hot" threads that appear in the so called "news" forums where topic headings are intentionally aimed at stirring things up and getting more clicks ( often centered around alleged scams, balconies, jet-skis and politics)

...or general topics forums where bored people of limited imagination start threads along the line of "Why ALL Thais Hate All Farang" (after one cashier didn't smile enough at one farang) or anything to do with crime and the police (about which few of the posters have a clue, but blather on and on about tea money and ineptitude that they've noticed while perpetually perched on a barstool).

must not be watching what appears on the site very closely!

If you've not noticed all the negativity in those areas possibly you've not been watching very closely.

Yes, I've seen the negative posts. After seeing enough of them, I just stop reading some threads. You've got to admit, though, that the patience and helpfulness of some TVers is remarkable. Some of these guys are the same old Asia hands who post on the Thailand and the Vietnam War forum. They've been around since the early 60s, as have I. Surely their helpful and informative posts have got to fill the glass a little, wouldn't you agree?

Yes, in the context of this particular forum the patience and helpfulness of some TVers is, indeed, especially remarkable IMHO in dealing with those posters who insist on using the word "visa" to mean an "extension of stay". Even more so when some of these posters then have the gall to accuse one of being pedantic upon having the correct terminology pointed out to them! I'm sure that the self-same posters would be the first to complain about the advice they were given turning out to be duff as a direct consequence of their terminological inaccuracies!

Thankfully the OP in this particular instance is not guilty of this "heinous crime"!
