Hi Guys,

I've only just registered onto this site, but I have previously spent many hours here researching information on Visas, and with that information have been successful in a previous 3 month tourist visa for my thai girlfriend. The visa was a standard 3 month, single entry (no further stay), as you would expect from a first time visa application.

We supplied all the suggesting information & material, and in fact the visa was granted seamlessly, with no phone calls or checks being made to either of us, nor our employers!

For that I thank all of you for your great information and cant recommend new applicants (or sponsors) to read up and follow your directions!

Her first 3 month trip to Australia went off without a problem, everything was sweet and smelt like roses, but alas in November last year the visa was due to expire and so my beautiful Thai girl had to go home...

We did not apply for a new visa straight away as I had already booked my XMAS & NYE to be in Thailand anyways, so a month or so was no big deal. That trip was so great, FYI ;)

So now it is time to look at the next tourist stream visa. I would really like to lock in a multi entry visa, this would allow us to travel back to Thailand for special events such as family birthdays, Songkran Festival, etc.

I have read through many many posts about this, but I could not find anything specific about how to actually secure the "multi entry" facet of the visa...

Does anyone know any specifics or facts in regards to how to obtain this, what the checking criteria is that would need to be met, etc?

Would there need to be a specific duration or time period between the last visas completion and the new visas application? That is, would my girl need to be in Thailand for a 3 month period before the next visa application? or 6 months?

Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys!

Nothing new.

FYI, we always wondered how it wentwink.png

Cutting through all the long grass, far as I know you cross your fingers and get the hand dealt to you both.

Good luck.

Year multi entry - After the first or second 3 month visa just ask for one. Valid for a year at 3 month intervals. Leave the country and reenter.

As for a time between visa apps just apply and see what happens.

Think the idea is to get a favourable pattern and they see that you are not trying a scam.

Check the embassy site.

Good luck.

There is no guarantee of a multi-entry Visa ... just doesn't happen because it's a judgement call by the Consular Officials at the Embassy.

That said, you can increase your chances of receiving one.

Have you read the pinned topic at the top of this page about Australian Visas?

Read that, it's a good start.

If your Partner has conformed to the Visa condition from the first one ... great, a good start.

What may help you ...

First, tick the actual box which say '12 month Visa'

Include a brief itinerary which has a few cultural events which you would like to share with your partner over the coming year. No need for great detail ... just them easily identifiable and covering a reasonable time-frame.

In a covering letter, politely actually ask them directly for a 12 months Visa and state (briefly) the reasons why.

Happy to help more if you have questions.

As per David48's comments, there's no such thing as a 'guaranteed' outcome.

I've been through this process before - the first visa was a 3 month single entry, the next one was a 12 month multi-entry, but the third tourist visa was back to being a 3 month single-entry. The last one I really wanted it to be a 12 month multi, but it wasn't to be.

I believe this had a lot to do with the case officer assigned to the last application. I was in Thailand at the time when she called my partner to discuss the application. She was a real bitch on the phone, hassling my partner about whether anyone was travelling on the plane with her (as if she wasn't capable to travelling by herself) & other trivial matters.

I would say that the last application was the strongest to justify a multi-entry, but we got stuck with a bitch of a case study.

For what it's worth, there are questions in the application which can help justify a multi-entry. For example, if you were to take a short trip to New Zealand during her visit to Australia (which is asked in the application), this is one option to justify a multi-entry.

Thanks for the great information guys!

Are there other questions that you know of in the application which may help with getting this approval. The question regarding New Zealand is a great tip, one which I will use for sure!

Cheers!
