if the Bhudda was alive today, what additional/revised info would he tell the devotees?

my guess would be "enough already with the burning!"

perhaps release dragonflies instead 220px-Sympetrum_flaveolum_-_side_(aka).j

Don't post after a long night out - especially on facebook. ;)

one susepcts the Bhudda would be shocked as to what his "religion" has become, and further if he tried to change it to bring it back into line which his original concepts, the current faithful leaders would accuse the Bhudda of being a "blasphemist" for not following Bhuddist beliefs and call him heretic

A similar thought occured to me as regards Christianity, although I am an Atheist, lets suppose JC returned to the present day and observed what the current organised religions have been getting up to in his name over the last 2000 years...you think he would approve or be really really p*ssed ?

I suspect he would be a very angry chappie indeed

Same would be true of every prophet/founder once a few hundred years have passed with the religion getting more organized by lesser souls who let wealth and power get in the way of the true path.

Doesn't mean there isn't a kernel of the original truth that can be found by a determined seeker within every major religion.

Maybe he would have a word with the Indian orthoriteis abut the state of there Nation and its attitude.

there was no "one" Buddha

That there is no such thing as to gosht/spirit. And, go to the modern medicine men to end your suffering instead of relying on the witch doctors to get well.

Respect my vote

Eh?

Respect my vote

I guess government by the enlightened would be preferred... which pretty much excluded "respect my vote" rethoric.

It's enlightened to not respect my vote? What a lovely religion. Do you do public burnings too? Books and heathens, I'm hoping.

Delusional and fault belief! If my grandma's sister were to go see the doctor instead of the village doctor, she might still be with us a bit longer.

nah... of course it's respected... it just won't be allowed to decide anything, but it sure gets the appropriate amount of respect...

Votes will be respected but won't be allowed to decide anything? Sounds even better than Scientology.

He would say that to follow his path requires "much more than worshipping images of me."

He already decried ego and vanity, but I don't think that part got translated into Thai.

I think they are saying that it is respected, just not very muchtongue.png
