I have an ASUS laptop and in the last couple of days when I am typing (2 fingers) the cursor will jump around.

Can get through a few or a lot of words before it starts.

No set pattern and no particular key.

Sometimes it will open another application , like now , just opened media library.

Done 2 separate virus scans with different programes, no help.

Ideas ?

Are you certain you're not brushing the trackpad?

laptop.... typing whilst laying on bed?...... mouse plugged in?...... laying on mouse?

Very careful with keypad (thought of that)

Very careful with keys, (thought about hitting 2 at same time).
