Thailand’s Industrial Confident Index hits 2 year low in December

BANGKOK, 16 Jan 2014 (NNT) – The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) revealed the December 2013 Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) hit the lowest in 2 years, standing at 88.3 compared to 90.3 in the previous month.

The FTI cited the political uncertainty as the main factor, explaining that industrial operators feared the prolonged political turmoil would slow down economic activities, diminish domestic spending, and scare off foreign traders.

The FTI said, aside from politics, the rising production and energy costs are also likely to affect TISI in December.

In order to address the falling index, the FTI advises the government to urgently solve the political deadlock, issue policy to stimulate domestic spending, provide credit scheme for Small and Medium Enterprise industrial operators to maintain their machinery and seek sustainable energy management program for the local industrial segment.

BANGKOK: -- The Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) dropped to 25-month low in December last year since December 2011.

Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) chairman Payungsak Chartsuthipol said Thursday that the Thai Industries sentiment index (TISI) plunged from 90.3 in November to 88.3 in December, the lowest point since December 2011.

The FTI conducted an industry confidence survey of manufacturers in various industrial groups in December.

The FTI chairman attributed the decline in industry confidence to the decline in overall domestic orders, sales volume, output, poor business performance and manufacturers’ concerns over the present political unrest and stalemate.

He said the survey found that manufacturers want the government to work to settle the political conflicts by peaceful means as soon as possible

He said manufacturers voiced concern that if the political turmoil drags on, it will result in slowdown in economic activities and domestic consumption.

It will also delay purchase orders by Thailand’s trade partners, while increasing production costs and oil prices also erode manufacturers’ confidence, he said.

More economic stimulant packages should come up to stimulate domestic consumption and find financial sources for soft loan extensions to SMEs, he added.

Well nothing affects these people ruling this Nation more than a DROP IN REVENUES and this is a slide that i fear will continue.

Tourism has taken not a BUMP but a HUGE DIVE and how is that going to pan out? Years more of pain.

Thailand is on its way to be the BASKET case of the ASEAN block and they brought the pain upon themselves.

People voted in this trash now they are saying they want change.

All too ignorant and busy to care
