There's plenty of things in America you can't do till a certain age, but still vote. Eg you can't drink alcohol till 21, but can still vote at 18. -

Civil war in Europe?
I wonder how much more it needs to stand up in Germany. Public media financed by compulsory fees tries best to keep the lid on the pot. But the right winged party still gaining. -

UK UK Moves to Lower Voting Age to 16 in Landmark Electoral Reform
Why/how do they have a right to vote? They cannot join the armed forces at 16/17 without parental consent, go to war, get married, buy alcohol etc until 18yo! -

UK Trump to Be Hosted by King Charles at Windsor: Unprecedented Second State Visit
It was done by way of comparison. 😃 Interesting that someone who has at various points claimed to be a father of 4, British, American and a also member of an over 60's women's cycling group would make such a comment. 😅 -

USA CBS Drops Bombshell: Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show' to End in 2026
video screenshot Stephen Colbert's reign over late-night TV is set to conclude as CBS announces it will end "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in May 2026. This unexpected news comes as a shockwave across the entertainment world, leaving fans reeling. CBS cites financial reasons, dismissing any link to recent high-profile events. Despite being a ratings powerhouse, Colbert's "Late Show" is wrapping up amid a storm of speculation. The news follows CBS parent company Paramount's settlement with Donald Trump and its impending merger with Skydance Media. Colbert, a vocal Trump critic, addressed the situation with his characteristic humour, but it raised many eyebrows. CBS insists the move isn't related to the show's performance or content, but rather a financial decision. Paramount recently reduced its workforce by 3.5%, highlighting the economic strain. Yet, many fans and observers find it hard to separate from the political undertones permeating the network's recent decisions. Colbert shared the startling news during a taping, expressing his surprise at the decision. "Next year will be our last season," he confirmed to the dismayed audience. Speculation about political motives surfaced immediately, with figures like Democratic Senator Adam Schiff urging transparency if politics played a role. Colbert's impact on late-night television is undeniable. Since taking over from David Letterman in 2015, he has become a beloved figure. The "Late Show" franchise itself has been a CBS staple for over thirty years, making this decision even more significant. Reactions poured in on social media, highlighting the profound connection people feel with Colbert and his show. Despite the disappointment, Colbert expressed gratitude to CBS and his loyal audience for their support throughout the years. CBS's decision follows the end of James Corden's "Late Late Show" in 2023, marking a notable shift in the network's late-night lineup. The future of late-night TV on CBS remains uncertain as industry figures like Jon Stewart remain silent. As the intricate web of media politics, finance, and artistry unfolds, it becomes evident that the landscape of late-night television is undergoing significant transformation. Whether political or purely financial, CBS's decision to end "The Late Show" signals the end of an era in television history. Adapted by ASEAN Now from CNN 2025-07-18
