KanomPang Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Ok, as a relative newbie I'm still trying to work out why every so often you get policemen dotted about 1 km apart down roads for km's??? At first I thought it was some covert operation to bust some big time drug lord but is it more a case that there is an important politician riding through and it's to show respect OR is it just some high ranking police officer and these are his minions that are on the payroll??? Bored and just interested to know. Answers on a postcard.
narkeddiver Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Normally they are present when a member of the royal family is visiting Chiang Mai - and I understand that such a visit is taking place today Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app 1
heybruce Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 CMU graduation ceremony on 23 January, and a member of the royal family presents the degrees. I don't know if the royal is here yet, this could just be preparation/rehearsal for the arrival. Or this could be some other VIP, police escorts and road closures are common for any semblance of a VIP. 1
