Police minions lining the roads

Featured Replies

Ok, as a relative newbie I'm still trying to work out why every so often you get policemen dotted about 1 km apart down roads for km's???

At first I thought it was some covert operation to bust some big time drug lord but is it more a case that there is an important politician riding through and it's to show respect OR is it just some high ranking police officer and these are his minions that are on the payroll???

Bored and just interested to know. Answers on a postcard.

Normally they are present when a member of the royal family is visiting Chiang Mai - and I understand that such a visit is taking place today

CMU graduation ceremony on 23 January, and a member of the royal family presents the degrees. I don't know if the royal is here yet, this could just be preparation/rehearsal for the arrival. Or this could be some other VIP, police escorts and road closures are common for any semblance of a VIP.

At the moment there is someone of very high rank, most likely royal in Chalong. They station a policeman at each soi entering main road. They stop all traffic till motorcade has past
