Bangkok Bank ATM

Featured Replies

Bangkok Bank has stated issuing only smart chip ATM cards. Said it is necessary to fight the scammers. The cards can only be used at Bangkok Bank ATM's. Would be an issue for me occasionally but I imagine we can adapt.

I wish all the banks would do the same.Everyone that has those prehistoric strips on their credit cards are vaunerable.

Resto we frequent won't accept it. Will be less convenient.

That's going to be brilliant for those of us who need to use our ATM cards overseas. I'm so glad that they are going to make it even more inconvenient to be their customer.

I opened a Bangkok Bank account in Chiang Mai last month and the account specialist asked me if my ATM card would be used only in Thailand or internationally. When I said "internationally" I was issued the mag stripe card and not the chip card. YMMV.

on the flipside, i took out all my needed funds (30k or so) from ATMs in Cha-Am three months ago and stored my debit card away.

last week, i went online to pay some bill and it showed a withdrawal of $173.xx (5000 baht or so from CAD) and a $5.00 charge.

so the clonings are still going.. i had to call my bank, they issued a new card and refunded everything about five days later.
