Dear all,

Can anyone recommend a photographer who specializes in maternity/newborn photos? I have seen a couple online but would like a few more choices. A recommendation based on personal experience would be appreciated.

Such a things doesn't really exist because studio lighting will hurt a young babies eyes. Any experienced photographer will know how to photograph your child whilst NOT using flash at your home. You'd be better off with a photographer with children themself. When were you thinking of a shoot?

Thanks for your reply, though not sure if I understand. I've come across a couple of photographers who focus on photos of mothers-to-be/newborns; they do exist. I was hoping for a broader selection than the couple I've found online.

As for when, I would probably be looking to have the maternity ones done within the next couple of months.

Hi, just a suggestion. Buy a good camera and just take your own pics.

Hi, if you can provide the links, I would be able to tell you if the people involved are what they say they are. It's a little strange to hear that there are photographers who focus on mothers to be and newborns as that should fall under portraiture, which all experienced and competent photographers should be able to handle. The big no-no with photographing newborns is to avoid flash and strong studio lighting as both will obviously hurt the eyes of your child. In general, shots should be taken in natural or soft lighting, which will require a fast lens if the latter.
