slum areas with tall buildings

Featured Replies

Curious if there are any slum areas in Bangkok with tall buildings. I'm not there at present and someone was asking regarding a documentary project they want to do. Seems they know about the typical canal side areas and wanted to find more of stacked like sardines area too. I said I could not recall anything over 4-5 stories, but that I would ask around.

I thought perhaps Ramkhamhaeng, but not sure

Thanks

You want this information to pass on to a documentary maker? Don't suppose he'd be using this information about Thai "slums" as Thai-bashing ammunition to line his own pockets? Just what Thailand needs more of, I don't think.

Ah, no... he's making a series of shorts around the world in general.... its about comparative poverty, not political leanings.... but choose your own poison I guess...

Far be it from me to not let a Thai Visa member jump to conclusions without the least bit of real information.

Besides, you guys seem to have the Thai bashing down pretty well already.

The flats in the Din Daeng area have been mentioned a few times in the news in the past. Might be what you are looking for.

Thanks Sunderland. I will pass that along

How tall is "tall"?

Can't say. Just my recollections of buildings where poorer people lived around Bangkok were all maxed out at 4-5 stories, rather than like 'The Projects' in places like Chicago and such.
