Teacher and Student Killed, One Injured in Motorcycle Collision with Van
A crash claimed the lives of a teacher and a student, leaving another seriously injured, after their motorcycle, carrying three passengers, collided with a passenger van. The incident occurred on the evening of 23 November on the Kaset Wisai–Phayakkhaphum Phisai road, near a three-way junction in Moo 14, Kaset Wisai Subdistrict, Roi Et Province. At the scene, police officers led by Pol. Lt. Col. Sriprai Boonklang, Deputy Inspector of Kaset Wisai Police Station, found a white Toyota Alphard van burned in a roadside canal. Four individuals inside the van managed to escape just before the fire engulfed the vehicle. On the opposite side of the road, a blue Honda Wave 110 motorcycle was found badly damaged, with significant impact marks on its right side. Two people who had been riding on the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene: a male teacher from a local school and a 12-year-old male student. Another passenger, a 17-year-old vocational student sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Roi Et Hospital. According to investigations, the teacher had taken his two students to a sports competition at a local stadium. After the event, they were returning home on the motorcycle. As they approached the intersection, the teacher attempted to cross the road. At the same time, the oncoming van, unable to stop in time, collided with the motorcycle. The impact caused all three motorcycle passengers to be thrown onto the road, resulting in the fatalities and injuries. The van veered off the road into a canal. The driver and three passengers managed to escape the vehicle before it caught fire. Authorities are investigating the incident further to determine the precise cause and circumstances of the crash. Bangkok Authorities Issue Rabies Warning After Infected Animal Found in On Nut Area
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has issued a public health alert following the discovery of a rabies-infected animal near the solid waste management center in Soi On Nut 86, Prawet District. Residents living within a 5-kilometre radius of the area, including communities in Saphan Sung Subdistrict (Saphan Sung District), Dok Mai Subdistrict (Prawet District), Phatthanakan Subdistrict (Suan Luang District), and Racha Thewa Subdistrict (Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan), are urged to exercise caution. The BMA advises residents to avoid any contact with stray animals in the affected areas. Individuals who are bitten or come into contact with animals suspected of carrying rabies should immediately wash wounds with soap and water and seek medical attention for post-exposure vaccination. Common signs of rabies in animals include restlessness, aggression, biting objects indiscriminately, stiffness, drooling, and tongue paralysis. The public is encouraged to report any sightings of dead animals or animals exhibiting these symptoms to the Prawet Animal Control and Shelter Group.
