Abhisit sets conditions for contesting election

As in this quote....."Four wishes of the people"?....Since when are these electoral minority coup-mongers and their shadowy supporters "The people"?........The people spoke on Feb. 2nd. and he is so afraid of what they said. He wants to 'deep-six' their opinion.

The people (most of them) voted already.

43 million (roughly) of the population were eligible to vote, yet only 20 million (roughly) did so out of a population of 70 million or so. That's less than 30% of the entire population. And (let's say) PT got around 50% of that vote, it means PT are only approved by around 15% of the population.

Is my maths correct? Did "the people" really vote for PT this time around?

1. The people were denied the opportunity to vote for the Dems by... the Dems.

2. There are not 70 million voters in TL

Some people where denied voting but NOT in PT strongholds. Think about it.

it was(is) a democratic election. So PT got the majority. That's fact! Changes could be done ONLY in parliament, not by street people who got a big mouth only but no brain.

Pheu Thai got the majority? Did you miss the part were the Election Commission hasn't officially announced any results yet, apart from how many voted on the 2nd of February that is.

New election should be stopped: Abhisit

BANGKOK: -- Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has called on caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to accept the fact that the February 2 general election was unsuccessful and recognise that new balloting should be called off.

He said several segments of society were agreed that the country urgently needs national reform and that the snap polls, which failed to take place in scores of constituencies nationwide, should not be held again.

Abhisit said a general election, if held, should be organised by a neutral agency, and not by conflicting factions, adding that resolutions should jointly be discussed or the damage to the country would be more severe and the government would eventually fail to stay in power.

The former prime minister added that the government should urgently help debtstricken farmers and sell rice from the state stockpiles to raise the funds to pay them.

"If rice in the stockpiles is sold, the government will get the Bt30 billion it wants for overdue payments. Why doesn't the government take action?" he asked.

The economy did not go down before the violence protesters came to the streets violating the rights of the people, forcing the closing of state offices and seized state buildings and forced workers to stop work to join violence .protesters.

Before these, our international ratings were high. They were challenges just like many countries were having, but the media reported challenges mainly as problems. These gave wrong impression and a smeared perception on the government.

Well, the export value wasn't really growing anymore, the import was also starting to stagnate, the export/import values started to show a growing deficit. The effect of throwing money around, mostly to recover from a flooding well done, was starting to wear off. The urgently raised decree to borrow 350 billion for water management couldn't be used as it was not that urgent that it couldn't follow the laws (impact studies, involvement of population and the like).

The national ratings have remained unchanged although outlook might be less positive. The Pheu Thai government urgently needed to find 350 billion Baht again, but this time within the National Budget, open for parliamentary scrutiny. The extra loan of 2.2 trillion is delayed with vague indications that all kinds of projects the Transport Ministry normally put in the National Budget suddenly no longer funded.

So, nice try, but the Pheu Thai led government was shuffling money, budgets and loans around in a way to make all less transparent, less open to scrutiny and with more opportunities for corruption.

You already filed a law suit that the elections was unconstitutional so what are you worried about now? There are millions of people who love to see you suffer because you and your party boycotted the elections and you as a citizen and party leader did not vote. The only thing you know how to do is cry and complain.

A number of off topic posts and replies have been removed.

A number of posts discussing or bickering about a post that contained profane name calling of PM Yingluck in the CMPO Bans PDRC leaders from leaving the country have been removed as well as all the replies. The profane name calling post of PM Yingluck has been found and has now been removed. If somebody does not mind his manners, a posting holiday may be coming soon.

A number of posts with messed up quotes have been removed as well.

I mentioned we are facing challenges just like many countries were having. I have not seem the government making an attempt to deny the challenges they are facing. I also mentioned the media reported challenges mainly as problems. These gave wrong impression and a smeared perception on the government.

To deal with the challenges, the government is having policies and projects to boost domestic consumption but disruptive politics and obstructionist strategies using the courts are delaying and even impeding project implementation. Certainly, the oppositions are successful on this but it is not going to benefit the country.

IMO, the biggest challenge of the PTP led government is not the economy. It is the people of the 'old elite' power who are anxious and suspicious and fear the 'emerging power' of the people. There is no way the PTP government supported by the 'emerging power' can fight the judges, officials of the judiciary/independence agencies and tanks and war weaponry. If, only a if, this elements do not exist, the country will enjoy peace, progress, and prosperity and not subject ourselves to the threat that it will be divided to at least three independence States.

While dealing with the challenges of getting Thaksin back without any court case waiting the government has created problems with many 'schemes' they have undertaken.

The biggest challenge for the Thaksin thinking Pheu Thai acting party is trying to break down checks and balances; throw around taxpayers money to buy support, influence reshuffles like the police reshuffle which got ahead with Thaksin's approval. Real challenges.

If and only if no one opposes Thaksin will be happy, for himself and his family, but the Thai will be the poorer. that would seem to include you as well my dear dreaming friend.

you only know how to use hilarious example to build your accusation. AV had done it before that required of him to prove his sincerity. He demanded house dissolution to return power to the people but once it happened he boycotted it. He promised RS a GE in November 2010 even though Jatuporn was perceived as had rejected it, he did not announce it but instead sent in heavily war weapons armed soldiers to crack down demonstrators demanding the return of power for a master. Before 2011 election, his administration bulldozed the amendment on the election section of 2007 constitution.

Well, in the universe here PM Abhisit offered new General Elections later in the year and initially dr. weng, Nattawut, Korkaew, Jatuporn c.s. seemed to agree till someone got a call on his mobile and all of a sudden the deal was off.

The army was armed with mostly their personal weapons as all soldiers have, their opponents had grenades and used them frequently.

As for buldozering the election section in the 2007 constitution, you may refer to the extending of the number of constituencies to have a more equal representation with less people per constituency. That helped populous areas in Thailand, like in NorthEast.

All in all your post is another rambling one with a few lies mistakes.

The subject on this is on the credibility of AV making new election demands. Can we trust him again for keep shifting goal posts.

1. AV did offer an election on November and he later said under the circumstances the GE should not be held in November after the military cracked down.

2. Do you know what that call was about?

3. The army did not just armed with mostly their personal weapons as all soldiers have during the 2010 bloody cracked down. They are not armed like that in dealing with the blockage of the Defense ministry HQ. This means it was not necessary to arm to such extend. They did not use proportionate force when dealing with the 2010 demonstrators.

4. The bulldozing on the election section of 2007 constitution was not confined to just the equal representation with less people per constituency - for their then coalition partners, it was on the party list system as well - for the dem. How does that helped populous areas in Thailand, like in Northeast. Of course, the voices of the emerging power of the people is loud and clear - they rejected the betrayers and the 'old elite' power to continue oppressing and impoverish them.

BTW my possible attitude in rebutting other peoples comment is that of someone who dislikes lies, half-truths, twisted facts, out-of-context 'facts', suggestions, insinuations. But don't worry, none of that will impede the peace, progress and prosperity of Thailand. Thailand has enough selfish people to do that. Like our Amply Rich Thaksin.

Now let's go back to the topic which somehow does seem to be less interesting to some

The rest went to the other Parties that contested in the Last Elections.

When did the public vote for these 4 reforms and what are they?

your sums are wrong.. 20 million voted in total that was including no votes, votes for other candidates (seemingly there were 54 parties in the election) and invalid votes..

Sounds reasonable enough, if only he would

1) specify what some of these "reforms" are to be, and

2) specify who is to comprise this "neutral body."

Until he does that why should anybody trust him?

How can you ask Abhisit to clarify something that he does not even know?

You must be a red shirt to even ask such a question!

How you dare ask details of the highly secret reform plans.

surely questions like that can be asked and then answered by the parties involved if and when agreement is reached!

The government's counter-proposal to hold elections on 14 November 2010 was rejected by them and was followed by a violent crackdownwhen the protestors refused to disburse.[3][4] Elections were finally announced in May 2011."

I have to disagree. If you want people to support you, then you should also tell them of your plans.

What is the reason why Abhisit and Suthep can't disclose the details of the reforms?

They don't have any details i expect, not so much any sinister plan i think just no plan at all, and that is the most worrying thing about it

That is my guess too.

The "reform" slogan is just a a way to get rid of the government. The poor souls stupid enough to believe it and spend days and weeks camping on the streets don't even know it.

Is easy to complain about a ships captain and scream that the captain has to go. But to then replace the captain with no captain at all is even worse.

I was talking in reference to this thread were Abhisit is talking about discussions with Yingluck and the government. It's like a conversation.. You say something the other answers etc etc
