Staying 39 days in Thailand?

Featured Replies

I flew into Thailand Jan 10 and am flying out Feb 18. I thought I would just pay the 500baht / day fine, but now I've heard that this could give me a bad stamp on my passport and possibly prevent me from coming back to the country. I've already been here past 30 days so I don't think a border run is an option at this point.

I'll be arriving at Bangkok Airport (from Koh Samui) at 11pm Feb 17, and flying back to the US at 5am Feb 18. Does anyone know what will happen? I'm hoping to just pay the fine and not have any issues getting out, and would like to come back in future years.

You will not have a problem leaving. Just allow a little extra time to pay the fine. Just be sure you have 5000 baht when you get to immigration.

You just get a small blue stamp in Thai that means nothing for getting visas or entering the country later.

Making a border hop would of been cheaper than the fine in retrospect.

Just don't do anything to draw attention to yourself before you get to the airport which would make a police officer ask to see your passport because it is a much different scenario if you are stopped before you get to the airport. Not common to get asked for your passport but if you are driving or around night spots your chances of it happening increases.

Not very good planning on your part, you could have had a Tourist Visa for 1000 Baht.
