I used the new taxis blue and yellow last night, on the meter it started at 40 baht.

When we arrived at my house meter read 66 baht, drive told me 106 baht !

He said extra 40 baht was surcharge, I think me was had ?

The metered taxis in Chiang Mai do apply these surcharges, so it is most likely not something he pulled out of his hat just to scam you.

Sorry I just found out they charge 40 baht to come and pick you up!

If you flag one down, they do not charge extra 40.
