“Peace for Bangkok” mission claims five deaths, 65 injuries

2-19-2014-9-39-26-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Erawan Center said today that the clashes at Pan Fah bridge on Ratchadamnoen Avenue has now claimed five deaths and 65 injuries.

It said that the latest victim to die is MrChirapong Chuichai, 29. He died from shot wound on the neck.

It said that 21 were admitted to Vajira hospital, 17 to Central hospital 14 to Huachiew, nine to Ramathibodi, five to Priest hospital and one to Police General hospital.

The mission “Peace for Bangkok” declared by the director of the Center for the Maintaining of Peace and Order (CMPO) Chalerm Yoobamrung Tuesday aimed to retake five protest sites occupied by anti-government protesters. A total of 25,000-strong police were engaged in the mission.

In yesterday’s mission to retake Pan Fah bridge on the Ratchadamnoen Avenue, anti-riot police stormed the thousands of protesters with teargas, and gunfire when first round of negotiation failed to convince the protester to evacuate.

The police could retake the protest site briefly but was forced to retreat immediately when unknown group of men opened up with assault rifles and M 79 grenades. They abandoned several vehicles behind, forcing angry protesters to overturn them to block new round of attempt.

A protest leader Somkiat Pongpaibul who was earlier arrested and detained inside a prison van near the clash scene was also freed by three unknown men.

Somkiat last night thanked the unanimous rescuers for their hospitality

Yesterday the CMPO also accused that the attack on the police with grenades and gunfire was from professionals with experience in using weapon.

It also said this unknown group of gunmen might also help to free the protest leader Somkiat.

Police officers were shot in the head by PDRC protestors.

A hand-grenade was thrown at police by PDRC protestors.

PDRC guards have been caught with police uniforms.

Even the witness they put forward to refute the police claim, had one (see attachment)!

And a group with hand-grenades and rifles, attacks a police van and releases a PDRC leader.

So now look at Friday bomb, a hand-grenade, that appears to be thrown by a white capped man in the video.

Now consider Sundays bomb, a hand-grenade, thrown by a man with long long fingers who later likely appears in a mask at Laksi as a PDRC guard.

And now General Prayuth is posponing his trip to the south.

This is clearly the military ham-fisted attempt at a coup. You can the judicial attempt at the coup in NACC, and a brand new one, an EC coup since Pheu Thai won the elections.

They seem to be ramping it up full on now. Even Bangkok Post and The Nation are pumping out the propaganda 100% unfiltered.

It smacks of desperation.

When political protests turn violent it becomes by definition terrorism. If Suthep truly cares for the people of Thailand he would use these optimal series of events to put an end to the protests, save face and save lives before it escalates any further. His and the protesters points have been made, the winds of change have commenced. He may not have achieved his only personal goal of the PDRC claiming power and installing a 'People's Council' but if he were to call a stop to it now he would be herald a hero of the people (both by those who support and by those that are against the protests) and would well be a contender for PM should he choose the correct path by setting up his own political party and using democratic means.

I am only guessing, but have a feeling those unknown men are military.

As they are well trained , well equipped and well organized

Scary thing though is that a group of few men can scare 25 000 strong police.

I think they're these guys,

post-199953-0-89334000-1392736460_thumb.

they look like a special ops group or other elite military unit. They identify themselves to each other with a black bandanas around their head with white letters.

I've seen a few of them in the latest conflict

post-199953-0-82684600-1392735262_thumb.
And also the witness they put up who claimed to have seen police drop the hand-grenade themselves (liar!) has one of these bandanas
post-199953-0-78893100-1392736360_thumb.

I think yesterday would have been a lot worse, if the fake police had got their boots correct.

I suspect they would have dressed up as police, killed PDRC protestors, the few little old ladies left, or far worse.

post-199953-0-34279900-1392738427_thumb.

I think that would give the army an excuse to take over to protect the protestors from the 'violence'.

But they messed up the shoes, and people noticed. So suddenly fake policemen would be spotted!

Any particular reason that fail to note all the grenades that have been thrown at the protesters to date?

What if the man with the white hat was a government goon trying to make the protesters look bad to give the authorities an excuse to use force?

I am not claiming this us the case, but use of provocateurs to manipulate is quite a popular activity in recent years.

Funny how yesterday they claimed 4 police shot dead and that police used only rubber bullets and today in international news it stated 1 cop dead and 4 protesters dead. It also showed that a rooftop sniper was shooting and that police were using real bullets. Im beginning to think all news in Thailand is being edited to make the gov look good.

I hope soon Chalerm and Yingluck face justice for the killings and injuries of all these people.

The blood is in their hands.

It's been said so many times, including in this forum, that life here is cheap.

Chalerm claims yesterday was a success completely ignoring the deaths then add in the off-hand comments about farmers committing suicide and it's clear what those at the top think.

That is clearly your opinion, which may come after a night of uncontrolled consumption of any number of anti depressents. Another side may see this as just another cock up by the minions of a disposed ex leader and his family stand ins. The latter are approaching the 'come to jesus'' scene, and the view from the inside outward is not real pleasent.

So by your comments do you accept that the white hat man next to the PDRC truck is likely the Friday bomb thrower?

How do you explain the last minute route change by PDRC to go past this building with the room full of evidence (including the hand grenade pin!). How do you explain the evidence changing when it was handed to the police (the ridiculous red walls ice cream cap changed to a red army cap)?

The ultimate force is the army, so there is no victory by force, possible for the government. The army takes power from the government not the other way around.

So it makes no sense to pretend they would want to kill this mob.

Pheu Thai have won the election (see AsiaCorrespondant's estimates of the win below), how would they even need a victory by force, even if they could get one!

the police are inept, they need to contain and control these sites then move in. once control is gained then negotiate with the protestors to leave peacefully or face charges and arrest. they must watch their backs for suthep's men or the rogue army and handle these people away from the sites. high value protestors should be taken away immediately to protect them.

What I'm saying is that some of what we see is stagecraft designed to manipulate opinions. The 'evidence' should be considered critically not just conveniently slotted in to serve our own political views.

For example, you saw a photo of a protester holding up some shells and assumed they were shotgun ammo and that the protesters were therefore armed, when they were actually spent rubber bullet shells in all probability fired at the protesters by the police!

I have no idea if Mr White Hat threw the grenade or not, but I don't think you can conclude anything from that. We know the government has people mingling with the protesters and we have also seen grenade attacks against protesters by people in their own ranks.

Both sides have a strong interest in making the other look bad, and personally I believe that both are willing to 'sacrifice' a few people if that's what it takes.

"The mission “Peace for Bangkok” declared by the director of the Center for the Maintaining of Peace and Order (CMPO) Chalerm Yoobamrung"

Former-DPM Chalerm, as boss of the CMPO, actually named this latest crack-down mission "Peace for Bangkok" ? blink.png

That's just sick, no other word for it, Goebbels would have been proud of his new-speak propaganda skills. bah.gif

Of course they are military...

Let's call things with their proper names.

The army has taken the side of the (paid for) protesters...

...so does the old-moneyed elite of BKK who are behind all this bogus 'revolution'.

The government has only the police to rely on.....and the red shirts who are silent at the moment.

I think only a miracle can save Yingluck now.

No, I disagree. I agree that its a faction of the army, and perhaps a faction of the navy, but not the whole thing, just a faction.

You don't need to dress up as police and shoot your own people if the whole army supports you anyway, you just take power!

If you look at Friday and Sunday bombs, they were timed around army day. Soldiers were in town on mass, that plot failed. General Prayuth held the soldiers and troop carriers back for extra training for a few days, which extended the window of opportunity.

But it was just too fake, the story was falling apart, the video evidence pointed to PDRC, Sundays bomb plot failed, they bottled out. It's really difficult for them to get away with that when everyone has cameras and everyone can report their footage!

The NACC I looked into, I saw many good cases of corruption being investigated by honest people, and a small number of other people who seem to spend their time doing political hatchet jobs rather than crime suppression! Again the same pattern, a small number of people representing the power grab, but most just doing their job.

The media use to tie this altogether, so a fake narrative "Suthep marches in with 3-5 million people / government bombs and shoots them / hero army saves the day / anti-corruption investigators arrest supports who were all corrupt anyway". That narrative just falls apart under the deluge of evidence!

A site like ThaiVisa gets far more viewers than the BangkokPost, and nationmultimedia.com combined, and it's tiny compared to the readership of Pantip.com or Sanook.com.

They lost control of the media, so they lost control of the lie, so they lost control of the people.

They are few, we are many, without the media control, we can see just how few they really are!

Whoppy. So your a numerical demagogue.

Mixing of incomparable quantities. For example, "PTP has increased farmers spending capacity by 5 billion dollars, while the DEMS had increased it only by 0.4 percent." Obviously, the latter sounds like less, but one cannot be sure without an absolute value.

(1) Now looking at your table - In BKK's case it is "WE THINK" that of 68% of 25% will project a 67% win for the PTP. You are extrapolating statistics to suit your agenda and even then it is an estimate! Come on mate!! I can extrapolate statistics from this as well. It was the lowest voter turn out in Thailand democratic history. The majority didn't vote. The majority. Of the minority that voted 30% was a "no vote" or a spoilt vote. Kinda gives you an idea about the PTP popularity.

(2) You guys are always spouting "majority rule" and "time to respect the will of the majority". Well here it is. But no, you don't accept THAT majority and manipulate figures to make it out your still a majority anyway. And do not come up with that lame excuse that the UK blah blah blah. For starters this is not the UK. Secondly the political climate as well as the education levels of its citizens is much higher. The government is not manipulating or offering rewards to a very narrow supporter base (farmers in this case). That's a dictatorship. In democracy the govt appeal to a wide demographic. That is the UK. Apples and Oranges which incidentally is another demagogue argument.

(3) Even if the projection that the PTP got the votes they did extrapolated from the minority of the minority of the minority they have still failed. Even Sadam got 100% of the vote with no opposition. PTTP couldn't even achieve that!

So I see your swell little demagogue table as a lose lose either way you want to argue it.

(4) Rice scheme failure. Protestors fault.

(5) Farmers protesting. Fake.

(6) Farmers suicide. Congenital disorders.

(7) 47% voter turn out. Huge election success.

(8) 43% votes last election. Huge overwhelming majority.

(9) 61% didn't want amnesty. Tiny minority.

I always wonder if there is a strong expat community in North Korea that logs into political forums such as this and support Kim Jong Un. Or is Thailand the only country around the world where regimes control the country and expats support them blindly?

I've annotated your points, let me deal with them in order.

(1) Actually these estimates are from AsiaCorrespondant . Are you claming spoiled votes as yours? Because they're normal in an election. I did the calcs with 'No Votes" changed to "Democrat votes" and that reduced Pheu Thai's win to 60% and Democrats 19%.

(2) If you were the majority you would have run for elections not suppress them. If these farmers are so dumb, how come they're not fooled by your candidate?

(3) "Even Sadam got 100%". And Suthep would have given himself 100% of the votes for his 'people's council' just like Sadam. But I do like the way you defend democracy! "PTTP couldn't even achieve that" exactly, yet you yellows claim the vote is rigged!

Tell me, does the EC work for Pheu Thai or the elite/Democrat side? If the election is rigged, is to for the government, or against the government!

(4) Rice scheme. My actual comment with real actual numbers in it!

(5) Fake farmers & small farm protests? She was a ex Channel 3 comedy bit part actresss <deleted>! They don't come any more fake than a bit part actress! Well at least all the farmers have different signs this time! cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

1392706669-005-o.jpg

(6) "Farmers suicide. Congenital disorders". No, farmers are killing themselves because they can't get money and your lot are blocking bank loans, and EC won't permit government bonds. I'm asking that your lot stop obstructing.

(7) "47% voter turn out. Huge election success". PDRC's attempt to block the ballot failed! You only managed to get the vote below 20%, the level at which the winner of a seat can't hold office in one seat.

(8) PT and its group held 53% of the vote last election, not 43%. They are the majority which is why elections are so problematic!

(9) I don't want amnesty bill either, because it would give Suthep & Abhisit amnesty from the 2010 murder charge, and I want them to stand trial. I don't give a stuff about Thaksin amnesty, his sister is a better leader anyway, less alpha-male. Do you imagine I'd give up democracy and hand power to murderers because I disagree with one bill? No way!

"The police could retake the protest site briefly but was forced to retreat immediately when unknown group of men opened up with assault rifles and M 79 grenades."

Thank God the protesters are peaceful (as long as everyone does what they say). And M79 grenades......not the first of those that have surfaced.....unknown group of men like Hades.

The same scenario plays out, just the protesting party and entrenched government.....airport seizures, armed enforcers....

The same scenario plays out as it has in the past.......

The same scenario plays out....
