Shinawatra business boycott forces its stock prices to plunge

Boycott Thai style : Let's boycott AIS. Thaksin has not had any shares in the company for almost 10 years, and the boycott will therefore not affect him or his wealth at all, but we will boycott them anyway :-D

Why not boycott DTAC and TOT as well, Thaksin does not have any shares there either, so they are obvious targets?

There's zero certainty that he doesn't maintain stock in AIS, particularly when Shin Corp is the largest stockholder and no fewer than seven nominee groups listed as major shareholders.

.

Yes, but that was all sold to Temasek from Singapore years ago for around 70 billion. Yes, I cannot guarantee that Thaksin does not have a few shares in AIS, but then you might as well boycott DTAC or BIGC or any other company where he might also have shares.
.

With this info, there's no way to guarantee that Thaksin and his proxies and his nominees don't own massive numbers of shares in both Shin Corp and AIS.

The likelihood that he owns stock in the companies that he founded and others that still bear his name versus owning stock in companies like competitor DTAC are astronomical.

His legendary ego and overwhelming pride in the empire he created pretty much cinches it.

RT @tulsathit: AIS chief, bracing for potentially massive subscription cancellation: We have nothing to do w/ politics & Shinawatra.

AIS Chief, could you explain the 1.2 Billion shares?

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/705790-shinawatra-business-boycott-forces-its-stock-prices-to-plunge/page-4#entry7472849

I will explain it for you. Shin Corp, which holds appx 40% of AIS no longer belongs to the Shinawatras. They sold it in 2006 to Temasek which belongs to the Singaporean government.

AIS has started to send SMS messages to all their customers, stating that they have nothing to do with all this as Dr. Thaksin ( yes they use that fake title to address him) has sold all his shares in the company.

What a pity that it isn't possible to reply to the auto messages from AIS. bah.gif alt=bah.gif>bah.gif alt=bah.gif>

I never received this SMS and I am a long time AIS customer, you sure your not make this up?

Sorry to disappoint you but.

AIS would like to affirm that the company does not involve in any political affairs or issues. Dr.Thaksin Shinawatra &family have sold out all the shares in the company group since Jan 23,2006, and have not been involving with the company since then in any regards.Thank you for your understanding and continuous support.

Maybe Webfact is also just making up things ?

Well, technically the likelyhood is exactly the same. Ask any mathematician and he will tell you that. All we know is that he once sold all his shares, which is why he got in trouble in the first place, as he did not pay tax - this was confirmed by Suthep in one of his speeches a few days ago. Whether he then bought back alot of those shares later, or bought shares in DTAC, BIGC, any other company or simply set fire to his money is anyones guess. Considering that he had alot of his money confiscated, I would consider it likely he moved his remaining money out of Thailand, but that is just a guess.

A brilliant idea, hope it keeps working. I am sure the Singapore wealth fund that bought

into AIS is regretting it now.....

Have a look at the huge share price increase over the last few years. I am quite sure they do not regret anything :-)

Shin Corp has gone up an agreeably astounding 50% since 2006, but Temasek has been trying for awhile to offload all of its shares. Talks late last year with a buyer have stalled due to the political turmoil.

Everyone who has an Internet connection can look up that Thaksin sold his shares to Temasek, but I would believe that Suthep has more behind the scenes information about who really owns Thai companies, as any member on this forum could even dream about.

Therefore I believe that he wouldn't bother with AIS if Thaksin had nothing to do with it anymore.

Notice in the article you link to that 96% of Shin Corp was sold to Temasek. I admit I do not know what happened to the remaining 4%, but it is such a small amount it does not really matter IMO.

Notice also that Temasek owns 52% of Singtel, so they are mainly trying to sell Shin Corp to themselves.

Further, most major deals on the SET has stalled due to the political turmoil, and many new IPOs have been delayed.

Seriously who cares, im sure hes in many many blue chip shares ... your probably supporting the Shins right now using a microsoft OS or using your apple phone or facebook, your pension if here could be linked to some of those companies. Probably a few dozen or more. He wont be doing it his personal financial team will be and you can bet they will be world savvy. You going to boycott all of that too ?

Guys laughing all the way to the bank as is nearly every listed stock on nearly all markets and all the winners ... he wont care a jot and so what his fortune has risen but its not doubled in 1 year like half the top 10 Thai rich. Why do you think so much is, in terms of cost being thrown at this protest support ??? its free money they got so why not spend it before it gets lost in the coming crash a few years from now ? Its a gamble and Asians love a casino.

Its a PR stunt Suthep is throwing about just like most else. It IS quiet in bkk at the rally points they ARE bussing them in when they can and a lot ARE being paid to come up.. they just are. They can afford to as many peoples fortunes have just about doubled in the last few years.

You need to remember how much liquidity has been thrown into the global markets since 08. It has to go somewhere and its gone into the markets.

As reported in today's Bangkok Post, up to 10,000 jobs are at risk in AIS...a company with no links to the Shin family any longer. Does Suthep care? Not a bit. Just political point scoring and very probably some links, direct or otherwise, to a competitor of AIS. Is it surprising?

Well that's irrefutable evidence..."they just are"

Sorry but there are so many here that know first hand many people are being paid to come up. I will direct you to kiev where both sides are being paid but mainly the protesters, no secret its accepted and the funding is well documented there too 5B donated by the US to support the freedom movement, documented.

Venezuela just kicked out the us diplomats for attempting to fund and encourage an uprising there.

Venezuela Expels 3 US Diplomats For "Promoting Instability"

Here its still pretend and denial but its there and well known. Not everyone of course but thats not required just some or key days is plenty.

Welcome to the 21st century of professional protests backed with real money and salaries to affect change.

Suthep stated on stage that AIS is not a Thaksin company.

But don't let that spoil your lies

Back on topic, are people being paid to boycott Shin businesses? To affect the share price to such an extent, surely there must be millions of people who feel Suthep's goals are worth supporting. But if millions agree with him, why do they need to pay for rally attendance?

BTW the red(ish) g/f fancies a few days in BKK (she loves Pratunam) especially if she can get paid for going. The girl's network on Samui and Surat came up negative, IMHO strong proof that it doesn't exist, in this area at least.

Another significant Shinawatra business is:

j6825.gif

M-Link Asia Corporation

https://www.set.or.th/set/companyprofile.do?symbol=MLINK

It's chockablock full of Shinawatras and Wongsawats (sister Yaowapha's married name) in both management (Thaksin's banned-from-politics-for-lying-about-assets niece Chinnicha is the new CEO; Yingluck's common-law husband, Anusorn, was President) and ownership.

Interesting shake-up over at M-Link today.

Thaksin's sister, company founder and major shareholder, Yaowapha has sold off all of her stock in the company.

Thaksin's niece, and Yaowapha's daughter, Chinnicha, who was President of the company has been replaced by Prasit Srisuwan.

Chinnicha remains as Chairman. She had replaced Thaksin's brother-in-law and Yingluck's husband, Anusorn, as Chairman earlier.

M-Link also reported today that they have an accumulative loss of 873 million baht.
