MJP
Having taken Sunshine's excellent as always advice I splashed for an Induro CT414 with BHL3 head. I have the CM34 monopod arriving Tuesday as I've always fancied trying a monopod out too. Couldn't be happier. Nuff' said. Anyway, having tried this gear out I can't recommend it enough. http://www.indurogear.com/ Induro also make a thing called a Hi-Hat in 75mm and 100mm bowl variants. They're extreme table top tripods and they're not terrifically expensive (well as pro gear goes).
sunshine51
Baby Legs, Hi-hats & Bazooka's... Actually what is depicted is not a "Hi-Hat"...it is a set of "Baby Legs".Baby legs are nothing more than a short tripod which one can mount anyhead that the tripod will take. The bowl, either 75mm, 100mm or 150mmis just another way to level the head on a non level surface. 75mm bowls areused primarily in either stills or very light weight video production whereasthe 100-150mm bowls are the true heavy weights of broadcast TV & filmproduction. A Hi-Hat is just a low angle camera support device without (usually) any way to extend the legs and a fixed 100mm or 150mm bowl attached.A "bazooka" is another camera support device that is nothing more thana cylinder that is either of fixed length or extendable length. In the latter casethe tubes are either gas or oil filled. The name "bazooka" comes from themilitary anti-tank weapon which these camera support devices bear anextreme resemblance to. See the attached pix for clarification... Standard hi-hat... Delux hi-hat... Standard bazooka... Broadcast TV camera support kit...10K USD!! Cine & B'Cast TV baby legs....
