How far in advance can I get the 30 day extension for a tourist visa?

Featured Replies

So what's the earliest I can apply for the 30 day extension (I'm on the first entry of a double-entry tourist visa)? In the past I've waited till the last few days of my 60 days, but now due to possible travel plans + the uncertain political situation, I'm thinking sooner is better than later.

And what about applying for the extension when outside of BKK -- how do you locate the government office if you're somewhere in the provinces?

Some offices will let you do it 30 days early others 2 weeks.

Click on checkpoints at top of this website and then then the part of the country for a list of immigration offices. http://immigration.go.th/

Thanks UJ!

"Some offices will let you do it 30 days early others 2 weeks." -- anybody know which it is for BKK? (I'm guessing this is still that Lad Phrao mall?)

GF is filipina and got her 30 day extension at Jomtien last week. Her two months expires on the 25th March.

I don't know "why", but my Honary Counselate in the US told me to wait until the last 7-10 days, but looks like that's not the case! Good to know!

I have a 60 day visa , I will be going to Thailand end of April this year, can I use my 30 day entry permit when I arrive ,when my thirty days are up can I do a visa run and then my 60 day visa will kick in or dose it kick in when I arrive in Thailand

You would have to use your tourist visa, which you can extend by 30 days.

You cna always ask to let you enter on a visa exempt without using the visa, but there is no guarantee they wil do it.

If you already have your visa and you are not coming until the end of April, when does it expire. You must enter Thailand by the "must enter date" on the visa. Normally immmigration will want to use the visa for your entry, but it is totally up to the immigration officer when you enter so it doesn't hurt to ask.
