CMfoodie Posted February 24, 2014 Share Posted February 24, 2014 CHIANG MAI, 23 February 2014 (NNT) – Chiang Mai is preparing a drought management plan for the drought crisis which is expected to be more severe than previous years. Six districts have already asked for help from the province.Mr. Wichian Puttiwinyu, Governor of Chiangmai, said this year the province has instructed all districts to have relevant agencies prepare a drought management plan for general assistance, such as shallow water resource dredging and even to check dam construction. All sectors must join hands with local people to reduce problems especially the scramble for water. Sub-district headmen, village headmen, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Office and the District Agricultural Extension Office have to make people understand that they should stop growing some kinds of plants in the dry season in order to avoid possible wider damage.The Governor of Chiang Mai added that southern districts of Chiang Mai such as Hod, Omkoi and Doi Tao, suffer severely from drought every year. http://thainews.prd.go.th/centerweb/newsen/NewsDetail?NT01_NewsID=WNEVN5702240010001 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
