BANGKOK: -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand has unveiled a plan to convince Vietnamese couples with fertility issues to seek medical operations in Thailand in 2015.

Ms. Jutathip Charoenlarp, Director of TAT Ho Chi Minh City, said the campaign was developed after study shows that a large segment of Vietnamese high-earning couples are facing difficulty to bear children.

As Thailand is already a renowned destination for "medical tourism", Thai hospitals and doctors should offer fertility services to these couples, Ms. Jutathip explained.

"The target group yields high-demand for medical treatment, particularly in Thailand and Singapore," the director said.

Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific Marketing Deputy Director, Mr. Pongsathorn Ketsamlee, declared that the plan is in line with TAT′s marketing strategy for 2015, which will mainly be an "issue-based" one - focusing on individual needs of tourists and the ability of related agencies to provide for those needs.

However, TAT is also reaching for other high-earning tourists, as reflected in a TAT pilot protect for the year 2014, Mr. Pongsathorn said, and the TAT is turning its eyes to Vietnam where, according to a research conducted by the TAT, more than 300,000 millionaires reside. 50 of them are reportedly on Forbes List of the Richest People in Asia.

According to Ms. Jutathip, TAT in Ho Chi Minh City has been chiefly responsible for seeking "luxury tourists" market in Vietnam and turning the TAT strategy into a solid marketing plan.

Many of rich Vietnamese like to travel to Thailand, as the country is reachable with short flights and has many shopping areas to suit the tourists’ interests, Ms. Jutathip said.

In 2013, 787,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand, increased 27.26% from the previous year. They had also generated 21,900 million baht in 2013, 28.25% higher than the annual spending by Vietnamese tourists in the previous year, according to data provided by TAT.

TAT should start promoting "mental health tourism" and use the services offered themselves...

That doesnt say a lot for the servicrs that TAT are using.

TAT should consider hiring the services of a professional promotion and PR firm. Stories like this are an embarrassment and cause more harm than good. This story would cause anyone with some semblance of medical and reproductive ethics to have kittens.

What is their annual budget ?? a few Billion, This government agency is a joke, they have become more than silly in the head just compile the list over this last 3 years on their attempts to LURE tourists here.

To save a few billion ditch the agency, and the other agencies who are doing similar work. Why have the other Tourist body also, jobs for a selected body of people, these would be the type of people who take up free business class seats on Thai airways, endless top of the range spa holidays, and seminars at far away locations.

Thailand needs an independent authority who in times like this pinpoint attractions to non violent areas. NOT fertility holidays---underwater weddings---up to 70% off sales at Malls----IT should promote Thai Airways with big special offers on flights from all countries, fill the aircraft, create revenue, use the standing aircraft that are in mothballs-----Throw Thai Airways to all distant corners and get it's poor name back.

But this is my idea only. If you can get a failing sister back on it's feet, WHY not ??? Vietnamese fertility tourism---get real TAT.

Now hold on just a moment, Kid, they consulted the very finest of professional fortune tellers to compile this strategy.

Hub of getting "f****d" is more like it, literally and figuratively.

It seems that you are assuming that I am older than I really am. I am not yet in need of Viagra or other similar drugs. I will probably use them when I get older (and "softer" somehow!), but till now, I knock on wood (pun intended) because I still can perform decently (or indecently!) without any medication. wink.png

No one needs to be old to use Viagra. I didn't intend to make it sound like you were in need. Just joking at your style -got the idea you were the only one that could make babies---apply to any dating agency and offer your credit card you will get all the ##### you needcheesy.gif

Well, you know the old saying: if it ain't broke, don't fix it! That's why I won't use Viagra or similar drugs at the moment. I understood that you were joking, of course, but it also gave me an opportunity to make some bad puns in my reply, which I am not used to miss! By the way, don't be afraid for my sexual life, it's not very difficult to get laid in Thailand, especially when you are always open to new opportunities! tongue.png

I am not afraid of your sexual life---not my business. While you can get it, grab it, don't knock it.

But this TAT idea is so -lame dog, sick pig, idea to get tourism.

They have to get beaches cleaned up, water clearer, scams stopped, rip offs heavily penalized, safer public transport. airport monopoly's stopped ( King Power ) airport taxi--orderly queue, next in line yours. NO PAYING a fee to a mafia box 50 baht for what ??????

Royal Thai police more foreigner friendly, National airline to lower fares to attract the THAI name.

We all know what to do-----PROBLEM TAT are refusing to address these issues. WHY ??? as these are the things to get tourists coming.
