chrisinth
It give me great sadness to announce the passing of a long term member of TV, Pastitche, aka Jim McMahon. Jim passed away through natural causes on Friday (21st February) and was cremated yesterday here in Phitsanulok where he had made his home. He leaves in Thailand his loving wife Ann and their daughter nong 'I'. We have been in touch with his daughter in Scotland and his son in Australia (from his previous marriage) who unfortunately couldn't be present for the cremation service. Ann asked if I could make this post to let his friends know. I don't think I have ever met a nicer, more intelligent, mellow, straight talking human being in my life who possessed all the qualities Jim had. RIP my friend, at least you died happy and we had a drink for you last night which I know you would have wanted. Chris, Jane & friends from Phits. chrisinth
In addition to the above, Lizzie, Jim's daughter, asked if we could recite a poem by David Harkin at the service. I was touched by this and I thought I'd share it with you, it is the way I know Jim (and myself when the time comes) would like to be remembered: You can shed tears that he is gone, Or you can smile because he lived, You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him, Or you can be full of the love that you shared, You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he is gone, Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on, You can cry and close your mind, be empty andturn your back, Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

David48
Chris ... great post in response to a somber moment. I have never met the member, though, if he was a friend of yours, I'm sure he was a champion bloke. R.I.P. Jim ... .

simon43
I was touched by this and I thought I'd share it with you, This same poem (the female version by David Harkin) was read aloud by me just 2 weeks ago at my mother's funeral in the UK. It is a wonderful poem to remember loved ones. RIP Pastitche Simon
