Thailand to welcome world royalties with national uniqueness

BANGKOK: -- World royalties coming to join Thailand's gracious celebrations of the 60th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the throne will be warmly welcomed by national uniqueness, caretaker Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai said here on Monday.

Mr. Surakiart told TNA that all parties concerned, including government officials and hotel staff, had been asked to focus on Thailand's cultures and uniqueness in welcoming the world royalties during their stays in the Thai kingdom.

"Kings and Queens from 25 countries worldwide have confirmed to join the royal and state ceremonies in Bangkok next month marking the auspicious occasion," he said.

"Only the King and Queen of Nepal won't be able to join due to domestic affairs," he noted.

The world royalties will stay in Thailand between June 7-21 when they will be warmest welcomed with tightened security measures, according to the deputy prime minister.

They will be honourably received and welcome at the Royal Thai Air Force Airport and the Don Muang International Airport by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vachiralongkorn and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Some of the world royalties will visit areas and tourist destinations outside Bangkok, including those in the northern province of Chiang Mai, the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, the eastern province of Chonburi, the central provinces of Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi and the southern province of Phuket.

Thailand's royal and state ceremonies marking His Majesty the King's 60 years on the throne--as the world' longest reigning monarch--will be held in the third week of June.

Preparations for the gracious ceremonies are expected to be fully complete in early June.

It seems HMG and the Royal Family hold HRH the King of Thailand in such high regard that they have sent no less an illustrious personage than the Duke of York himself. The honour bestowed upon the Chakri dynasty is doubtlesssly overwhelming in its magnitude. One must presume that other more pressing engagements have precluded an even greater salutation.

No further comment necessary other than HE David Fall must be feeling a tad more embarrassed than usual.

On checking HRH the Prince of Wales' diary it seems that for the first two weeks of June he and Camilla are heavily engaged in parochial duties culminating in what must be regarded as the zenith of his calendar, the attendance at a green vegetable " event " in Launceston in his capacity as the Duke of Cornwall on the 13th June.

Tough life but you get to travel, or not as the case may be.
