What is the best way for transport for this whilst having a level of comfort ?

Is the airport only a short songthaew hop from Trat bus station ? If so how much ?

And what is an average price breakdown for the journey ?

I am little confused by the question, but will assume that you want to go from Whitesands Beach to Trat Airport.

The airport is around 30kms from Trat city. Anyhow, the TDX Minibuses are the best option, they are specifically for hotel pick ups to Trat airport. They are relatively comfortable, and affordable. I think around 300 baht a person from Whitesands to the airport, including the cost of the ferry. Any hotel will be able to sort it, or visit Fraser at Islandnet travel in Whitesands, next to The Amsterdam Cafe.
