There seems to be no restriction on the growth of the global tourism industry and with that growth an insatiable global appetite for a skilled and competent hotel workforce. The BTEC HND in Hospitality has been designed using input from the UK hotel industry to establish a pragmatic training option that provides the skills and background people need to be successful in a modern hospitality environment.

The first semester looks at the contemporary hospitality industry and aspects of finance within the industry. The course also considers elements of customer service and food and beverage operations management. The second semester looks into management development and investigates issues related to marketing. Semester 3 sees students involved in a research project while the following semester looks into human resource management for the service industries. The course also covers resource management issues, hospitality contract and event management, and personal and professional development. The penultimate semester looks at hospitality operation management and heritage and cultural tourism management. It also considers the entertainment industry and aspects of venue management. The final semester sees students gain work-based experience.
