3Bb Wireless Internet? (not wifi/3g)

Featured Replies

3BB/Tripple T (same company i assume) are advertising a wireless internet. It doesnt appear to be wifi, or 3g. Its something else.

Called 3BB wireless Broadband - http://www.3bb.co.th/product/product_detail.php?lang=&id=2095

I live less than 1km from, what I think is the central 3BB office in Chiang Mai. Can i get some kind of antenna to connect to them and get 10mb internet for 590 b a month?

Seems to be the same price as their wired service http://www.3bb.co.th/product/product_detail.php?lang=&id=2084

Advantage for wireless service? Maybe less people (nobody else) on the "line" so faster? Perhaps no contract to sign as install is easy for them?

The page states that it is indeed a WiFi service. A special antenna (and wiring for it) may be required, if the 3BB hotspot is not close enough.

This service is a point-to-point wireless service, based on 2.4 or 5 GHz. It is not WiFi. This service can deliver broadband over significant distances (~ 10 Km) with line of sight.

It is similar to TOT Wi-NET and AIS AirNET.

Your proximity to the 3BB office may not mean anything. You'll have to contact them to see if the service is available in your location. You'll have to enter into a 12 month contract.

Are you able to get fixed-line broadband service, say from 3BB, via DSL? This may be a better solution.
