BANGKOK: -- After a long day, nothings better than being sexually harassed and pawed at during the ride home. In fact, police say women were getting just that - and paying for it - from a smutty taxi driver.

A 60-year-old Bangkok taxi driver was arrested Saturday for harassing three female university students during a ride to Malinon Tower in Khlong Toei district.

The students accused taxi driver Sukij Kasemduangjit of verbally harassing them and reaching into the back seat to grab their legs. One student managed to capture a photo as evidence before going to the police.

Action was taken after Channel 3s Weekend News played a sound clip from the students conversation with an officer from the Dept. of Land Transports passenger protection center. In the call, the officer accused the girls of possibly teasing the taxi driver.

Most likely as 500 Baht for the rape of a minor allows you not just back on the streets again but driving your taxi as well. Rape in Thailand may carry a heavy sentence within the judicial system but for many Thai's it's no worse a crime than breaking the speed limit.

You know, this story just VERIFIES that over the counter Viagra sales does have its downside! Too many old Thai men with nothing to do but gulp down Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. Then they go off with all day long woodies and all this free time! Of course if they were in Frankfurt Germany, this would not happen as Germany is basically an all male country!!!

"the officer accused the girls of possibly teasing the taxi driver."

Wonder if one was his daughter he would say the same? dry.png

I would find it very difficult to rate him any higher than the taxi driver.

What a jacka*s.

As is the case with nearly every other crime too. Thailand may be one of the worlds softest nations when it comes to meting out punishment to criminals. Just let them go. They have learned something. No need to punish them. The judges here should be re-trained. Perhaps send them back to law school? Perhaps have them all train overseas? Oh, am I talking about actual law and order? Imagine such a thing?

Rather disgusted by the many facetious and flippant comments on this Thread.

As one more sensible Poster commented - how would you feel if it was your own daughter in this situation?

Patrick

Absolutely Patrick.

Once again, the investigative reporters at "Coconuts Bangkok" newspaper have found a story which strikes at the very heart of Thai morality and values.

This is the story of the year, and it totally justifies the Pulitzer Prize that it will surely win.

Bravo Coconuts Bangkok. And Bravo Patrick - there is nothing funny about dirty old taxi drivers that talk nasty. You stand alone as our moral defender, and for that I salute you.

Of course they would have taken action anyway ... whistling.gif

That is to me the most disgusting part of the story. Those who are supposed to help the victims do nothing but accuse them.
