March 11, 201412 yr Hi Everyone, I need to have my kid's Thai Birth Certificate translated into English and duly authenticated by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I am looking for advise on where this is processed. Is there something like the one-stop that can do this? How long do they usually take? Thanks.
March 11, 201412 yr Normally it would be done at the MFA in the government complex but the office is closed there. They have a temporary office at Central Bangna near the passport office. I suggest you have the translation service handle the certification for a small additional fee. It will save you the time and expense of doing it yourself.
March 11, 201412 yr Author The MFA does not provide the translation service? Would you know the going rate for translation and certification? There's one on Sathorn I know of but will check if they can certify for me Sent from my GT-I9500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
March 11, 201412 yr The MFA will do the translation but the costs and time spent going back and forth will probably be equal to using a translation service. You can find info in Thai here: http://www.consular.go.th The normal charge for translation is 400 to 500 baht per page. The majority of translation services can get the certification done.

March 11, 201412 yr My last translation and MFA cert done by a translation service cost 1500 TB and included EMS to my home. Well with the price, especially now.
March 11, 201412 yr Just go to Foreign Affairs with the papers in your hand. You will be approached by Thai 'translators' who can do the translation for you. An official translator translated the birth certificate of my son in Pattaya but it was rejected by Foreign Affairs. Staff at Foreign Affairs told me to go down and let the 'translators' downstairs do the job and indeed, THEY know what Foreign Affairs want!!!!
March 11, 201412 yr Author Hi Asiaexpat, where did you get your document translated? I'm currently being charged 3000 for the service and authentication at central bangna with no EMS Edited March 11, 201412 yr by cheekohh
March 11, 201412 yr You pay by the page for the translation so it is hard to compare the two without knowing how many pages were done.
March 11, 201412 yr I was charged 1500 last month for an Thai BC to be translated, certified etc etc from one of the translation places in Ploenchit.

The one in Pattaya could well have been laying bricks last week
March 11, 201412 yr Author Translation office reduced the price to 2,800 with the following breakdown: 500 for 1 page, 800 for authentication fee, 1,500 for roundtrip to central bangna one whole day. A bit much? Are the lines there crazy there now? Sent from my GT-I9500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
March 11, 201412 yr I recall reading a post by a person that done it their self at CW and spent the entire day doing it. Bangna is just a temporary office.
March 11, 201412 yr Author Hi samran, where in Ploenchit did you get your translation done? Sent from my GT-I9500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
March 11, 201412 yr In the building opposite the British embassy (Wave Place - corner of ploenchit and wireless) there are a couple of places on the second floor next to the home pro plus. Edited March 11, 201412 yr by samran
March 12, 201412 yr Hi Asiaexpat, where did you get your document translated? I'm currently being charged 3000 for the service and authentication at central bangna with no EMS Sorry, but I do not remember the company's name. My niece handled it for me. But I have previously used translation services located near the US Consulate Office on Wireless Road. There are several in the office building just north or the consulate where US immigration has offices. But the most recent for cost purposes was the one I mentioned. Bear in mind the current closure at CW has created significant work effort for there companies and they could tie up a person all day. This will increase the cost to customers I would expect. EMS service is normally included in the price from my experience.
