Before such 'user friendly' courts and so-called Independent Agencies, they are not the minority they are in parliament....A minority atributed to their electoral futility.........In essence, exercising Opposition outside the Electoral Democratic system of governance. The more they can excercise Opposition to the Govt. outside Parliament, the more favorable it is to them. Under normal circumstances, the Opposition would have grilled the Govt. in Parliament, about the deportation of this guy, and one of their brethren-in-arms. The injunction is required for the court to hear his case. Deporting the guy without a chance to defend himself would hardly be "justice", would it? Is this really worthy of a conspiracy theory? Looks bog standard metal procedure to me. Yingluck just scored herself an extra 15 days and I don't see you complaining about that.

Popular Post Scamper
Charupong - the former minister of the interior - endorsed the UDD platform on February 23 - which included going after the independent agencies and advocating secession. This same man - Charupong - signed a deportation order against someone who advocated no such things. The Civil Court is right to have put a hold to this outlandish display of Chalerm's CMPO, where this Thai citizen was deprived of his access to due process of the law - to which he is now justly entitled to. Thida and friends may have coined the phrase " judicial coup " but that is - and has always been - a rallying cry of the UDD to do away with the independent agencies completely. And that particularly rallying cry is - incidentally - profoundly unconstitutional and a threat to the rule of law.

Now please tell me exactly how this is in keeping with his visa status? http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/06/us-thailand-protest-india-idUSBREA250EQ20140306 Sehgal says he did take part in a protest at a government building but denies breaking any law http://m.aljazeera.com/story/201411481333567303 Several thousand demonstrators gathered outside the Thai customs department to prevent staff from going to work. With protesters' plans to surround all government ministries and politicians' homes, many fear that Thailand is teetering on the brink of widespread violence. "This is not democracy. It is autocracy... it is a one-man rule," said rally leader Satish Sehgal, railing at former Prime Minister Thaksin's alleged stranglehold on the nation's politics. "There's massive, rampant corruption in this country. Nepotism. Our objective is to try and get rid of all this." Demonstrators also surrounded the ministries of commerce, labour and information and communications technology. I will be glad if they decide he didn't break any law. Cambodians, Burmese, Farangs and all the rest will be free to attend at their leisure. Will make the whole event so much more multi cultural, and will probably raise the levity of the speech making somewhat. I can't wait for a fluent speaking farang to get up there and tell it how it really is. To express things that Thais have a hard time such as coirruption on all sides, duplicity on all sides, a patronage based society, how valuebale democracy is and how it should be cherished, not dismantled. It will be great. Can I start a protest party. Farangs against ALL CORRUPTION on ALL SIDES. Now that will get all of their attention. All you have to do is show love of the King and say you are there to protect the future of Thai people. Who can argue with that?

Whilst I agree that a judicial coup was on the plans, I would argue that it has stalled, rather like the military coup. Both the military and the judiciary have done their appreciations, and realise the implications of popular reaction to toppling an elected government. They (alone) know the likely result of the ongoing ballot. As I said, the whole plan has stalled. I should imagine there is a lot of brainstorming going on, to try to come up with a means of getting rid of Pheu Thai, and replacing them with a more acceptable regime (Abhisit?) without sparking a popular protest, which they could not control, and would lead to another Pheu Thai government being elected! Tricky one! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Popular Post Crushdepth
funny that one of the institutions most in need of "Reform" engages in such outright political acts judicial coup Oh come on, the guy has challenged a government decision and the court has ordered an injunction in order to hear his case (it being a little difficult to attend court if you are deported). Hardly controversial and definitely not a "judicial coup". The court may well end up backing the government and throwing him out. I'll be surprised if it doesn't.

Popular Post Fat Haggis
Okay, seeing as you seem to have a really hard time understanding this, I'll say it again, I'm not a Thai and I'm a guest in this country, I do not support the reds, and I do not support the yellows either, what I do support is the right to vote without obstruction, and I also support the right to protest, again as long as it's without obstructing another persons civil liberties, I do not believe that the acts of violence against the protestors is in any shape or form justified, and I also believe that the acts of the PDRC guards at times are nothing more then mindless thugs. But where your entire argument falls down is in the fact that there has to be a beginning to what you desire. At the moment there is no beginning. It is a political stasis. The beginning will only come when the political slate is wiped clean. That means a total clean out of this govt. For the moment, forget the Dems - they may ambush and snipe and throw up road blocks, but along the way their electoral influence seems unlikely to carry the day for them. Under an impartial administration, they will have to sit dormant (for strategic reasons). And as long as they and the Thaksinistas remain contained, there just might be a chance for political and bureaucratic reforms. So, bottom line: get this revolting govt out and let an impartial administration take over to enact reforms.

Bottom line IMHO, the obstruction of this election is as much about preventing the convening of Parliament, is it is their fear of electoral results. They also ruled against Sukhumbhand. A member of the democratic party. Hardly one sided. Get your facts straight. Under normal circumstances, with a standing government who abides by the rules, your logic is sound. But now, here in Thailand, it doesn't work. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingnews/EC-votes-to-give-yellow-card-to-Sukhumbhand-for-Ba-30228940.html Citing the Nation as an impartial source.................... Love it. Facts are facts. Just can't link to the Bangkok Post.
kkerry
His deportation was suspended just in time so now he can march alongside Suthep in the largest, the ultimate, the final countdown protest any day now.
Popular Post lovetotravel
It's as clear as the nose on your face there's a silent Judicial Coup underway, and has been for several weeks now, and this is from an outsider with no affiliation to the Yellows or the Reds. How can you say "and this is from an outsider with no affiliation to the Yellows or the Reds" when every post you make is bias towards the reds and every like you give is to a red supporter. I think it is clear which side you support. Nope, I think both need a right good boot to the <deleted>, I post more when I see the tit for tats between TVF members it's like a tennis match with accusations and counter accusations and then typically one calls one leader a criminal fugitive and the other is called a fascist, and one calls one set thugs, and the other says well you burned down Bangkok and one calls one side buffaloes and the other counters about Thai Elite.. If the forum members can't agree on basic principles and twist everything to sit their train of thought, then what chance do the ties have?? None They're like all behaving like spoil t little children, who are constantly spitting dummies out of prams, and all the whilst the status quo remains. Yes Reformation i needed, but not on one party's account of it, BOTH sides need to sit down and start acting like they have the interest of ALL the Thai people at heart, and not their various cliques, Thaksin is a Dick, as is Suthep, as in Chalerm as is Buhdda Issara.. Yingluck, well.. she was always out of her depth, and I'm willing to bet deep down she wants to get out of this circus, and get back to being a mother, and shopper!! Agree with you. Both parties are pretty bad. But what you call "yellow" supporters here on TVF are mostly people against Thaksin, and the current government. Not really supporters of the Dems. And for sure not supporters of Suthep. IMHO.
