Can't FedEx or EMS stuff to Channel Islands :o{

Hi ForumMates,

I am posting this for a friend, so I hope I am reporting the situation accurately, and hope y'all can help or shed some light on the problem.

My friend has been trying unsuccessfully to send documents to the

Social Security Dept.

P.O. Box 55

Centre for work pension and benefits
La Motte Street
St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands JE48PE
UK

Recipient confirms that this addy is correct.

First, he sent it registered mail, and although the internet tracking said that it had been delivered, receipient says they did not receive it.

Next, he tried to send it FedEx, but FedEx would not accept it because the zip code did not exist in their system (or something).

Finally, sent by EMS for 950 THB, but 5 days later was returned and the P.O. says "they cannot deliver to an island."

Weird, huh?

Anyone else have any similar problems iwth the Channel Islands? If FedEx and the P.O. are a no go, what is the workaround?

What are the Channel Islands, anyway? Part of the UK, but some kind of independent entity?

Thanks, lah!

FedEx would not accept it because it is to a PO box.

I cannot explain Thai posts problem.

He should send them the tracking details proving it arrived and step back-Works every time:)

Thanks, UbonJoe! I know that FedEx doesn't deliver to P.O. Boxes, I just wasn't connecting the dots. And, as you said, doesn't explain the problem(s) with the P.O. Will have my friend get a street addy. However, as the OP recommends, couldn't hurt to send them a copy of the tracking results. .

The Jersey SS dept. has an email address

[email protected]

Scan the documents and the tracking record together with a covering letter and send!

No reason that I can think of why there is a problem with the Thai postal service delivering to the Channel Islands.

For those whose geographic knowledge is incomplete go here !smile.png

I sent a letter by registered mail to HSBC on Jersey two weeks ago. It was received no problem, but I could only track it on Thailand Post as far as leaving the airport in BKK.

Note to OP

Rex: sort out Khonkaen.com will you!!!

Thanks, Tom! I have done my good deed for the day. We shall pass along the info and let the OP's sort it out.

Khon Kaen Forum (not the one here on TV) have been down for a few days as we are moving site to a new host, but it has been slow going. Unfortunately, there is only an error message when you try to access the site. Any Khon Kaen peeps out there, we will be back up soonest. Tell your friends not to worry!

And besides, you can't beat the sheer numbers and resources on the mighty TV to quickly get responses to dumb questions.

Thanks for your help, everybody!

Its nice and sunny here in the tax havens right now!
