Iron wok

Featured Replies

We have tried several wok's in the last years but they are all no good.

Last one was a Calphalon from 3000 baht, nonstick with 10 years warranty, yeah right. After 1 year it sticks like glue and for warranty i have to send it to the USA at my own costs.

So i found out that oldfashioned iron woks should be the best, but where can i buy one? I 've been searching in BKK for more then a year now and can't find it, they are all aluminium or teflon coated and i don't want that.

Where can i buy a heavy iron wok in BKK?

An iron wok? Is it for thwowing at wabbits?

Buy second hand so that it is already seasoned. Seasoning a new steel or iron wok takes time and preferably a fire.

If I was searching in BKK for a new one, I would look at dingy shops in side streets, possibly Chinese mom and pop stores. 2nd hand, try Chattuchak and surrounds.

No it is for making flied lice.

Chattuchak is to hot now and to busy as well. Somewhere in a mall or at the skytrain woule be the best for me.

I don't understand it actually, all the malls only sell the aluminium woks and they just make the rice (especially the egg) stick to the pan. So the Thai all use aluminium or teflon woks these days?

No, they dont all use aluminium or teflon.

However, they dont care the heat or how busy is...in general. Thus they have their iron wok, and flied lice. thumbsup.gif

Never use aluminium cookware. There is a direct link between aluminium and Alzheimers.

Sometimes we eat at the house of my wife's friends, they use Teflon frying pans where more then half of the teflon has disappeared. They won't buy a new one though.

Now i realise that our licecooker also has an alumium bowl, i will also buy a me new licecooker then.

I should've said, "if I remember correctly".
