Hello...New to Phuket. Looking for a Doctor to help me with the paperwork for a Canadian Disability Claim. It has been started by a doctor in Canada, but need more paperwork done by someone who has the insight on old people, strokes and government. I had a stroke nearly 2 years ago and am still fighting the Canadian government for a disability, am 57 years old and require follow up paperwork within the next 6 months. Any leads would be helpful. I have read earlier forums, but have not been able to locate anyone, including the doctor in Karon.

The Karon Clinic is on Patak road (389 Patak Rd) at the entrance to the Access Resort & Villas.

Husband and wife doctor team, speak excellent English and both are highly qualified.

I will check the Karon Clinic....thanks Went to the Chusak Medical Clinic as mentioned in older posts, but they had no idea who I was looking for.

As for whether a foreign doctor would be acceptable to the Canadian government, I have nothing lose to submit any reports. Anything would be better than the second doctor I had in Canada who did nothing, except ignore two other medical suggestions that I required further testing....

Thanks for any suggestions.

Very much doubt that a Thai MD can be found "who has the insight on old people, strokes and government"

The needs and requirements of Governments , especially in relation to claims, tend to be complex and difficult to understand.

However I wish you well in the search.

Edit

Just looked at the Canadian form.

http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eforms/forms/sc-isp-2519(2011-11-15)e_dsb.pdf

I would think this form could only be completed by a Physician who knows you and has access to your past medical history.

thanks for the additional information about the Karon clinic.

My first doctor filed in all the forms as she believe I was not employable but the Government of Canada did not believe my doctor and figures that companies in Canada will hire an older person with pre-existing medical conditions. An example of this problem is that my Visa credit card came with all sorts of travel insurance so if I had a problem outside of Canada I was covered. However, now that I have had a stroke, I have a pre-existing medical condition and most of my coverage is null and void. Government says I am employable, most companies would run from the potential long term disability payments since if you have had a stroke, you are very likely to get another. Since the government is deciding my case, it seems to be a losing battle but I must try. That is why I am looking for someone who can present further documents about my current health.

Again, thanks for all the replies, every bit helps

I really cannot see the Canadian Government putting any weight against a medical from an area where it is common knowledge that ANY medical certificate can be had for a price - most times not even requiring attendance at such clinic.

Forget local doctors surgeries, as Ned suggested, go to Bangkok Phuket hospital and see a specialist.

A certificate completed by a neurologist at an international hospital should have some weight with the Canadian authorities.

It may also be a good idea to make this contact if you are going to live here and may be prone to further problems.

Sounds to me that the OP needs a doctor certified by the government of Canada to certify disability claims.

In the US there are doctors that specialize and are officially licensed to perform "disability" claim physicals, review records, and issue reports. Sure that our Northern cousins have the same system so good luck to the OP on getting it sussed out here in LOS
