Can anyone tell me any airlines that escort children flying by themselves, handing them over to the parents at the airport.
They will be flying fron uk to BKK thank you.

I think you might have to find a chaperone but not sure. Contact one or two airlines and see if they can help. It would also help if you had a direct flight.

British Airways has a good reputation for caring for children flying on their own. I looked into this as my Thai brother-in-law has children studying in the UK. BA have their own staff assigned to this work and they also have their own children only lounge at Heathrow. They escort the child onto the plane and handover to the crew. They will also ensure the child is sitting next to a female passenger. Rule is that the parent/guardian has to remain at Heathrow until the plane departs.

KLM definitely do it, I have seen the badges the kids wear around their necks escorted by airline staff.

The three airlines that fly direct, BA, Thai and Eva all do it. I have flown many times on flights with UM's (unaccompanied minors). IMHO I think any of them would be fine though I would plump for BA or Eva personally. The kids get well looked after both inflight and at the other end. My daughter is a veteran of many such flights and always enjoyed them.

They might even be able to gain some valuable work experience doing a drinks run with the trolley for a discount on the airfare.

I've never heard of such a young pilot before.

I used to fly my kids to and from Abu Dhabi on a regular basis with BA and found them excellent with unaccompanied minors. Very strict on handover at both ends.

Most airlines offer this service and I was never charged but that was many years ago so I don't know the current arrangements.

Having been a flight attendant for 32 years with an international airline, I can assure you that your child will be looked after well by any major airline. There are well established rules and procedures in place and they are usually strictly adhere to. Parents need to sign the child over to the ground staff, ground staff to the cabin crew, and so on until the child is finally signed over to the designated person at the end destination. They usually get boarded first or last and get their food served first so that the crew can assist them if need be. The smaller ones get games or activity packs to keep themselves busy. They get showed how to operate the VOD and video games as well. Generally they are in good hands. Some airlines even have special staff that escorts the kids if their are more than a certain amount of them. You really needn't worry.

And they have been doing the same since I left London alone in 1954 at the age of seven to Sydney and on to Auckland, New Zealand, arriving three days later. Overnight stops in Bangkok or Singapore (can't remember) and Sydney. Looked after all the way and even got my hands on the controls. Mothered by crew and passengers alike!

All airlines have an 'unaccompanied minor' policy. It would be stupid of them not too! The kid is taken from the responsible adult in country of departure and escorted/monitored until delivered to the responsible adult in the country of arrival.

and then there is a Meet & Greet person at the other end,

who will then hand over to you.

I recently sent my 12-year old son from Hong Kong to Perth via Singapore on Singapore Airlines and they provided an excellent service handing him through the various sectors. He even said he wanted to do it again.

every airline offers a service to attend underaged. My kids were going from Dublin to USA and had a nice flight. All time snacks, drinks and toys. And all time a stewardess around. In Miami we were waiting and they were "handed" over to us. So don't worry

The one I would NOT use is Air France...for some reason they find it too much trouble to do properly.

Had an 11 year old girl fly from USA to Manila that way....Stopover in Japan. No big deal. Just ensure you are there when the flight arrives.

Must be twenty years ago now but when sending my wife and children off from LHR to BKK I messed up my eldest daughters name on her ticket - they didn't match. This was on a Saturday - frantic finding of a new ticket for and off she went the next day on TG - and they did her proud. Escorted all the way to the flight and she said she ended up in business class! And no charge for this service as well - I think that has changed though.

I got a refund on the original ticket btw. Again I doubt if this will happen now. Last time I went through BKK (in February) Bangkok Airways refused to fly me because I had used my short name on the booking and my passport had my long name. Luckily I had a credit card with a photograph on it (mine naturally) with my short name so they let me on. First time that has ever happened in over 30 years of flying.

HMMM - How well does the airline handle the passport exchange - from British for boarding to Thai for landing..??
