30-day Visa Waiver expiring. Have 60-day Tourist Visa. Can I clear in at immigration in Koh Samui?

Featured Replies

My 30-day visa waiver is about to expire and I have a 60-day tourist visa already, can I go to immigration in Koh Samui to get stamped in or do I need to do a border run? Thanks to all for the help!!

You have to exit the country and re enter.

Did you ask immigration not to use your tourist visa, or did they just not notice it?

They didn't notice and I was under the understanding I just needed to go to Samui and get stamped in on that visa, so I let it happen. It was a misunderstanding on my part. Thanks for the reply... even though it means ANOTHER run! Que sera. Live and learn. smile.png

Thanks again.

You could go to immigration and explain that you got a visa exempt 30 days instead of the 60 you'd have gotten with a valid tourist visa.

They should be able to fix that, giving you 30 more days.

When that 30 days is close to expiring, return to immigration and apply for a 30 day extension.

No 30-day extension is available after a visa-exempt entry.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

You could go to immigration and get your entry stamp error rectified. They should of stamped you in for 60 days so immigration should fix it. Your permit to stay stamp will be 60 days from date of entry when they correct the error.

Tell them you just noticed it when you go.

"No 30-day extension is available after a visa-exempt entry."

But there is on a TV, once immigration fixes the mistake.
