PDRC cheers after election nullified

So if the election is nullified don't things go back to the status quo as they were prior to the election making PTP the governing party and not a care taker government?

Fascinating. Seems logical enough too.
well, parliament was dissolved and a new one hasn't been elected. If the PTP were to go back to being the governing party without an election, it'd hardly be democratic.

As it stands, they are still in caretaker mode.

The only way it could happen is if a ridiculously corrupt judiciary could be found.

Unfortunately, somebody has beaten them to it

sorry, I'm confused. Do you mean PTP remain in caretaker mode if they are corrupt, or PTP return to be the ruling party since the election was voided if they are corrupt? You did mention it seemed logical.

The house has been dissolve and it cannot be reversed.

I was being facetious about finding a corrupt judiciary that could issue a dodgy verdict and reverse the dissolution.

FYI - BangkokPundit has a lot of very good information and analysis on what's happening in Thailand. He dissects the constitution and explains the relevent sections as they apply to the current events - it's a very good site, give it a look.

With a grossly incompetent EC it appears there will never again be an election in Thailand again. All any party has to to is stop

candidate registrations in a handful of seats and follow that up with blocking voting venues and voilà, never an election again.

Now all Suthep has to do is appoint himself and his hand picked appointees to his leadership council and he will be able to feed

at the trough for decades. His own party can block any elections so he will kindly stay at the helm. This own track record shows

he is very capable of lining his pockets. Well done Suthep.

How exactly do you suggest the EC stop protesters blocking polling stations and candidate registrations? The government couldn't do it even with a state of emergency in force and the army to back up the police. It's the government that is incompetent.

Abhisit's naivety is staggering! Why should the democratically elected leader of the nation, speak to a self appointed thug whose aim is to overthrow her and return unelected power to the Elite that have subjugated the ordinary Thais for the past 100 years - ever since they arrived from China.

She is not the democratically elected leader and never has been, Get real. Everyone knows who currently runs the caretaker government and did so before they dissolved the house too.

You do realize where the Shin family originate from, their ethnic origins don't you? And the relatively short time they've been here. Funny how "new" immigrants can now be so anti foreigners too isn't it.

New money versus old money power struggle. The new have brought more greed and corruption than the old too.

Whatever your views on the ongoing political situation in Thailand how could you possibly think Yingluck is not and has never been the the elected leader of Thailand?

Ridiculous pedantic arguments about her current status, the is not bit I've heard enough of, but the "never has been" bit is a first.

Did you just decide this all by yourself and are now informing the rest of the world?

It's a bit bizarre mate.

You might be onto something, when did Taksin's family arrive from China?

Well, almost all of the politicians in Thailand are Chinese as are the people running the economy. The main difference between the Chinese is that the Shinawatras came up with a programme to appeal to rural Thais whereas people like the Chinese Suthep and his Bangkok whistle blowers is that they have nothing to attract the rural Thai vote.

I thought everyone was aware of this!!!

You are not telling me that you thought she was the Prime Minister, are you??

What did she ever do? She hardly went to parliament and when she did and was asked a question she let someone else answer it for her because she didn't understand anything that was going on.

All she ever did was cry and feel sorry for herself when she or her family was criticised - her tenure was a sham and she was the fake, not those Thai farmers who had the audacity to protest against her!!!

What if the government was ORDERED to stay away from the protesters blocking the registration and polling venues???? Anyone think of this scenario?

I agree that its ironic that Thaksin is ethnic Chinese whilst Suthep is ethnic Thai, whereas their supporters tend to be the opposite. T.I.T.

To answer your question: I believe it was the 1920's. Around the same time as hundreds of thousands of other second rate merchants who came here to escape the chaos at the end of the Qing dynasty and beginning of Sun Yat Sen's republic and found a compliant, easy going people here that they could run rings round, buy up all their land, take over the government and get them to work for peanuts.......a system they are desperately anxious to maintain and which the Masses -led by one of their own (Thaksin - which is why they really hate him- traitor to his race) are threatening, by sheer weight of numbers, to undermine.

Please people..... can ANY of you answer where the origins of the Thai people are from?... forget about the early 1920's.... How about this? >>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_people <<<<<< . Getting back on the subject. Suthep and his rent-a-mob are still running around free to do as they wish. Do not one of you think this is strange in any way? I sure as heck do... Especially when there are so many arrest warrants been written up.

lets see.

suthep running around with a bunch of warrants, yet not arrested.

jatuporn actively breaching his bail conditions, yet not arrested.

red bull man kills a cop, yet hasn't seen the inside of a court room.

thaksin sentenced to gaol, yet hasn't seen the inside of one.

I don't think it is strange. I don't agree, but thats how it is here.
