Basic documentation/information for visa/visa extensions

Featured Replies

Seem to be a lot of people getting into a twist!

Perhaps mods could post a basic guide to Thai Visas and the conditions and documentation required for

extensions of stay?

In CM I have never, in 10 years, had a problem with any of this. It may be that 'Retirement' Visas are easier than some others?

Required: Passport. Copies of Passport Pages with original visa, entry exit stamps and/or re-entry permits

if appropriate, Departure Card, Last 90 day reporting slip..

Original Letter with Embassy Stamp detailing confirmed/verified income. That is it. Only time there was an issue was

when I moved house, temporarily, and that required Mum to pole up with her Tabian Ban and ID card to confirm the move;

never required again.

I do have a Thai wife, I do have children..I do have a Thai Bank Account/Yellow Book etc..but they play no part in this process.

Have to think most people getting into difficulties don't have the correct paperwork!

Camerata's guide to residence is still spot on. Perhaps we need a definitive guide on Visas?

Maybe the problem is that different Immigration Offices (can) have different rules ??

For example one time in the Pattaya / Jomtien Immigration office, 3 (yes three) copies of Tm.7 (each complete with passport photos) where required for a extension based on Marriage !!
