BANGKOK, April 11 - Thailand's government-operated Transport Company is scheduling 2,000 more bus and van trips to serve travellers during the Songkran holiday.

President Wuthichart Kalyanamitra said the number of passengers is expected to peak today at 212,000 persons.

Starting today through April 13 and during April 15-17, more buses and vans will be added from 5,000 rounds to 7,000 rounds to serve a maximum number of travellers at 200,000 persons per day.

He said the Transport Company has asked for cooperation from traffic police in the capital to help direct traffic at Bangkok's three bus terminals as well as asking taxi companies to send sufficient numbers of drivers to pick up passengers.

Mr Wuthichart said related agencies are cooperating to prevent road accidents and changing routes for double-decker buses not to run on steep slopes for greater safety.

He asked travellers to allow sufficient time to arrive at bus terminals before their departure. (MCOT online news)

So anyone travelling should find an easy quick and safe ride to their destination during songkran. I dont feel safer knowing their are 2000 more crazy van drivers amd drunk or sleepy bus drivers. 3 cheers for the Transport company
