Myanmar National Sought After Slashing Thai Woman's Throat in Pattaya
Picture from responders. Authorities are urgently searching for a suspect, believed to be a Myanmar national, who fled after attacking a Thai woman and leaving her with a severe neck injury. The incident occurred at 16:05 on November 28 at a residential building on Soi Welcome in Jomtien, Pattaya, Nong Prue. Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkamhan, Deputy Inspector of the Pattaya City Police Station, received the report and dispatched police officers and rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation to the scene. Police cordoned off Room 43 on the 4th floor of the building to prevent unauthorised access. The victim, a Thai woman aged between 30 and 40, sustained a deep slash wound to her neck and was covered in blood. Rescue teams had already transported her to the hospital for emergency treatment, by the time police arrived. The attacker fled the scene before authorities arrived. Nearby residents reported hearing the victim's cries for help but were unaware of the exact nature of the incident. They also noticed a man, described as a foreigner, running out of the building. This prompted them to contact the police, who quickly responded to assist the injured woman. Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkamhan inspected the crime scene and coordinated with an investigative team to track down the suspect. The cause of the attack remains unknown, and police are awaiting the victim's recovery to obtain her statement and gather more information to proceed with the case. Authorities continue to investigate and search for the suspect, while the victim remains in a critical condition. -- 2024-11-29 -

Welder Severely Injured After High-Voltage Electric Shock in Nakhon Sawan
Picture from responders. A construction worker sustained critical injuries after being shocked by a high-voltage power line while working on a rooftop in Nakhon Sawan’s municipal area. The incident occurred around 15:30, in front of the “Monte” optical shop on Sawankhalok Road. Pol. Lt. Kiattisak Chaikaew of the Nakhon Sawan Police Station responded to the scene, where Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) personnel were already working to cut power to the lines. Rescue teams used a bucket truck to retrieve the victim, identified as Mr. Panumas Khotsuwan, a contracted construction worker. He was found lying on the power lines in a critical condition, with severe burn injuries caused by the electric shock. Rescue teams took approximately 15 minutes to safely remove him from the power lines and transport to Sawanpracharak Hospital for immediate medical treatment. According to the victim’s younger brother who was working alongside him, they were part of a team of four workers hired to extend the rooftop and install a steel frame to support an advertising sign on the commercial building. Mr. Panumas, a welder, secured himself with a safety harness attached to a power pole to prevent falls while working near the edge of the rooftop. While walking along the edge of the roof with his welding rod in hand, the rod accidentally made contact with a high-voltage power line, resulting in the electric shock that throw him onto the wires and left him severely burned. Preliminary investigations revealed that the owner of the optical shop had hired the workers for the rooftop renovation and signage installation. Authorities plan to summon the building owner and other workers for questioning to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Mr. Panumas remains in critical condition, reportedly in a coma. The investigation is ongoing to establish liability and prevent similar incidents in the future. -- 2024-11-29
