BANGKOK, 21 April 2014, (NNT) - Manufacturers of electronic appliances are hoping to see a surge in television sales as digital TV wins acceptance among consumers.

Mr. Thakol Niyomthai, General Manager of Toshiba Thailand Company Limited stated the firm has been affected by negative political factors that have diminished public spending.

He said sales of audio and video devices dropped to a negative 5%, as did IT goods, mentioning however that the summer period has boosted sales of air conditioners. The manager disclosed that all things considered, the company’s Q1 performance was stable, while expressing his optimism that political tensions will ease, leading to other positive outcomes.

Mr. Thakol also projected bigger public spending in the second quarter, revealing his company is planning several sales promotions, including such big ticket items as digital compatible TVs, refrigerators and air conditioners.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of LG Electronics, Thailand Limited, Alongkorn Chujit, echoed Mr. Thakol’s sentiment on the political effects on his company, saying however that sales in LG’s electronics appliances increased by 3-5% in the first quarter year-on-year, thanks to purchases of televisions and air conditioner.

The LG executive said his company had set aside 600 million baht for an aggressive marketing campaign in the second quarter, also focusing on such items as digital compatible TVs, and air conditioners.

I have a communal CTH package in my apartment building. It's free cable channels through a CTH box but most channels are terrible picture quality.

Apparently there is a difficulty with upgrading to digital. Teething problems for a company that specialise in cable.

I'm thinking about buying a 'global tv ' box soon .you just need 10 mb speed internet for it.

Has anyone got this and if so is it any good ?
