Popular Post AleG
I'm curious........where do they get all these M79 grenades?..........Did they fall off the back of a truck? Nah, home delivery: "I am not politically active," Pol Sen Sgt Parinya Maneekhot said yesterday, "I've just procured and delivered weapons to earn extra money". At 4.20pm on Wednesday, security officials rushed after a motorcyclist - who was later identified as Parinya - after he suspiciously changed his route upon seeing the checkpoint. When chased, the man dropped a Styrofoam box initially on his motorcycle into a garbage bin and sped away. Because the soi he went into was a dead end, he left his motorcycle and scaled the wall to make his escape. A plastic bag containing his ID card fell down during the climb. Security officials collected the bag and then checked his abandoned box. Inside were 63 M69 grenades. Parinya did not return to his police flat on Wednesday night. Policemen searched his car there and found three M16 machine guns, 100 M79 grenades, three M79grenade launchers and many more ammunition. ... During the interrogation, Parinya said he was on his way to deliver the grenades to a customer at the Bang Khen Post Office at the rate of Bt1,200 per grenade when he ran into the checkpoint on Wednesday. Pimay1
I don't suppose the BIB have thought of a police steakout around these places that are continually being attacked. Probably not as this would lead to them having to say who is responsible.

Local Drunk
It kinda works in a dual purpose like this... fire a grenade today and everyone forgets about the grenade that was fired yesterday. It eats up headlines and distracts from the real issues, and it attempts to intimidate the courts. I was at the medical tent on Changwattana Road last week. It's not a tent... it's a bunker of sandbags and could easily withstand a direct grenade attack. Some of the guards there pointed to a certain building (hotel) where they thought the grenades were fired from. There really isn't a clean line of sight from there except to the most westerly part of the PDRC barricade which includes the medical tent. It's more like a point and shoot in the general direction and hope we get lucky, and there were high winds in the area last night. I pity the air compressor. Popular Post Scamper
As Pheu Thai supporters steadfastly look the other way, pretend that none of this is happening, others with eyes do indeed see and are indeed seeing these things. And it is hoped that the international media is now conducting a steady count of all these attacks against the independent agencies. If they do, they will quickly find that they add up to a repulsive realization - that there is a concerted and perpetual war of intimidation towards the very agencies that are constitutionally empowered to oversee and judge the activities of those who would much prefer such judicial oversight not to occur. As CAPO freezes the accounts of people who speak on a PDRC stage, as CAPO issues warning to companies who are suspected of supporting the reform movement, as CAPO publicly humiliates civil servants who greet the protesters, and as CAPO issues an intimidating directive to the Constitutional Court and the National Anti-Corruption Commission - with all that CAPO has done - - has the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order actually placed the independent agencies and the courts under twenty-four hour police surveillance and protection ?
