Farang and politic, Thai and home-country

Featured Replies

I have heard many rumors about Farang and politics. Some say its illegal for farang to even talk about Thai politics, some say its not but improper. Some say that its illegal for farangs to have a meeting in support of a political party in our homeland, Does anybody know anything regarding this?

Nothing is really illegal.....Beside comments on the royal family.

If it is improper depends on what you say. Think for your home country, in a political crises and some Thai who doesn't understand anything makes some comments.

Here you are in the position of the Thai. And surely no one want to hear how much everything is better in your home country.

what politics, you don't even have a proper government, and why would falangs care,we have no vote and no say,so why would we have meetings about it,i find your post strange to say the least.

I have an opinion about Thai, US, German and Chinese politics.....to read, show interest and build opinions is called education.

I try to clarify. If some people from my country forms an "political voluntary association" (not sure about the proper word) in support of a political party in our home country and have regular meetings in a public restaurant. Would that be a legal problem in Thailand?

I really don't share the opinion of many expats that say foreigners shouldn't have a political opinion or even think about politics. It's right, we as foreigners don't and probably will never have the right to change something, but I don't want anyone to forbid me to think critically. I live in this country fulltime and consider it my home, I pay taxes as any other Thai (or at least a few), why should I not be allowed to make myself an opinion? Or is it because "farangs not understand Thai politics anyway"?
