Windows 7 Desktop Gadgets

Featured Replies

I have been using the gadgets available on W7 for over a year.

I display a number weather and currency gadgets that access the web for updates.

Yesterday, the gadgets are no longer getting updated as if the internet was down which it isn't.

Any one using them or have a clue what's going on.

Thanks

Microsoft discontinued Gadgets last July because of security problems.

There also seem to be a number of users who have been having problems with these 'old' gadgets, recently -

see Microsoft Support "Windows 7 gadgets may not work or be displayed correctly."

Microsoft now recommends its Apps.

Newer Gadgets are available from other sources/websites.

I know they discontinued it in W8 but the W7 online update was working for me until yesterday.

I was hoping someone who is actually using gadgets such as weather and currency that need to be updated daily had similar problems.

Im using W7 64 and all mine are OK and latest refreshes today

Have you tried a system restore to pre the problem?

Mine are ok. Go in to Control Panel and you can re-install them from there.

After reading the new comments, I checked my desktop and lo and behold, the gadgets are being updated again.

Just another unsolved mystery.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
