For my yearly extension of the Non- Imm O-A retirement visa I have to submit every time a copy of the contract of my rented house ("lease agreement").

Now I have the intention to buy a house on my girlfriends name, but then I don't have anymore proof at which address I live in Thailand.

How do I solve this problem? What paper should I need now?

Get either the phone, electricity, Internet, cable TV or True Visions, or water in your name and that will satisfy most Immigration offices for proof of residency

If that is totally impossible you could always get a "residence certificate" from your Embassy, expensive but possible, especially if you are American

If it is only the matter of have proof of address, why not do like the rest many of us do... Get yourself a yellow book connecting to the house that your wife will own...Easy to do that....

When it comes to have a O-A and extend that??? I dont know about that, but good men here knows about that stuff..and can answer you...

Thank you for your answers. I suppose it is to proof your address, but I don't know the reason.

But what is a yellow book??

A Yellow Book is what a Blue book is for a Thai but is only issued to foreigners, it is just something that shows your address. Depending upon where you live it can either be cheap and easy, or difficult but not that expensive to obtain due to different Amphur requirements

The advantage of a Yellow Book is that it can be used for Immigration or for obtaining or extending your 5 year driving license or for registering a motor vehicle

The disadvantage is that is can be a PITA to obtain and some of us don't think it is worth jumping through hoops for something that isn't needed all that often. Especially when a utility bill can be used in most situations

Since you are new you will continue to be corrected that you are getting an extension of your permission to stay, not extending any visa

There are many immigration office that will not accept utility bills as proof of residence. Many now insist on a rental agreement.

Is Jomtien part of that many ?

I can recall posts by members needing one for Jomtien.

Not everybody has a utility bill that is in their own name which is what they would expect to see if it was allowed..
