I have a felony in the US, and I am currently on supervised release. I am

considering moving to Thailand after my supervision is finished. Will I have

problems obtaining work Visa or any other visa because of my felony conviction.

My felony conviction is for non-violent crime (white collar crime).

Thailand won't know about your past and convictions are not asked about in a Thai visa application. Your only fear is US agents could tip off the Thai's if your crime was a major one.

Thanks for the reply. I am glad to see that the forum has a sense of humor.

My crime was healthcare fraud and wire fraud. I do not think this will allow

me a job in government. Steal small they put you in jail-steal large they make you

president. I would like to know if these felonies will effect me getting and staying

in Thailand. Is there more corruption in Thailand then the USA.

When traveling anywhere in the world, always lie about convictions of any type when asked (unless you've done something really bad that would be on Interpol).

A friend admitted a being convicted of a felony -30 years ago- when entering Australia last year and they almost threw him out of the country. When he presented evidence that it was for something minor -something to do with protesting the Vietnam war - the officer who had questioned him, pretty much told him to always lie in the future. No one can access another countries criminal records systems to look for convictions for fairly minor crimes.

Pedophiles, People Smuggling and drug smuggling are a whole different story.

"Some of the biggest improvements has been registered in countries like China and Thailand, which have long had poor reputations, while perceptions in three of the four worst rated countries for corruption, Vietnam, India and Indonesia, are slightly better this year than last," it said.
