May 5, 201412 yr This research is at least eight years old. It's been subsequently shown that most people can read this, not just the initially suggested 55%. English doesn't even have to be your first language, but you do need to be competent. For me, English isn't even my second language; it's my third language and still I have no trouble reading it. I've read somewhere that reading such constructs is good for the brain as it forces it to work a little harder. Since it's hard to find this kind of reading material, an alternative brain exercise is to turn the page upside down and read. I read one page a day that way. Try it. T

May 5, 201412 yr I think this shows up most in English because of the strange spellings. Less pronounced in a language like Spanish
