oldsailor35
Is there any advantage over either these two routes. I know that the Long Tail is exposed to weather as opposed to Club Andaman's enclosed cruiser. Thanking you for sensible replies.
pinkpanther99
This is at Ranong, right? I've not been on the Andaman club but the last time I was there the Long tails had been upgrade to a much bigger boat splendidly named the 'Visa Run Express'! Like I said much bigger, and not as susceptible to weather conditions.

theoldgit
This has nothing to do with Visas to other countries, so moving to Thai Visas. You may want to read this thread in conjunction with the ones regarding "visa run crackdowns".

ubonjoe
It did not stop it. It is just nobody has come along with the info. I think you will get some answers on the Phuket forum where this topic is going now.
simon43
The long-tails cost 100 baht each way (don't pay more). The larger boat is specifically for those using the visa-run minibus services. It is not yet monsoon season, so the long-tails are still OK to travel - they should always provide you with a life-jacket, or they are not allowed to leave Thai waters. In the monsoon season, it can get a little 'dicy' when the wind is up and the waves are high - you may be required to bail out the water that comes into the boat! jimihendrix
Andaman club is worth every extra baht... quicker, closer, more comfortable... the difference last i went was about 300 between the two.
PattayaPhom
Worth staying the night as well, great pool, sauna and gym plus they refund the boat fare of the room rate anyway. Best buffet breakfast had anywhere...Forget the longtail, thats for crusty backpacking teachers

I agree completely. Long time ago before I acquired my marriage extension I one time tried the long tail option. Horrendous - it rained and we got very wet (no canopy), the boat ran out of petrol (we got stranded), complete nightmare. Thereafter I always took the Andaman club option - a far superior service in relative luxury (compared with a long tail).

madmitch
Maybe the Andaman Club will be doing better business with a two-night package in view of recent news. Until that's cracked down on as well. Doesn't affect me personally but it would be interesting to know if this does work for the 30-day visa runners, though maybe a bit pricey for the backpack crowd.
