Election Commissioner: Elections likely postponed to August

BANGKOK 15 May 2014 (NNT) — Election Commissioner Somchai Srisuthiyakorn has stated that he expects elections to take place on August 3, 2014 if all goes as planned.

According to Somchai, he will meet with the current caretaker government to discuss the current political issue and the upcoming election, adding that the topics include the governing rights of the caretaker government and details of the royal decree daft.

If talks proceed smoothly with the caretaker government, Thailand should see the next election on August 3, 2014. To hold the election on July 20 as earlier proposed by the EC itself would seems too rushed, and would disturb His Majesty the King in regard to the royal endorsement needed to confirm the results of the election, Somchai said.

Representatives from the caretaker government that Mr. Somchai expects to talk to include Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan, Phongthep Thepkanjana, Warathep Rattanakorn, and Chaikasem Nitisiri.

Should the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) wish to voice their opinions and discuss the matter with the Election Commission, Mr. Somchai said that would depend on the circumstances and who would speak for the PDRC.

EC you forget what your name means. It to hold elections not to cancel or delay elections. Your doing a terrible job performing your primary duty. You failed once are you going for two in a row. NACC charge Yingluck with neglect of duty, they also charge you with the same offense.

Yes even the PDRC will have their reforms all mapped out by the too !!

The PDRC have had 6 months already to have these reforms ready to go now they have 3 more there's no excuse to have never made a start on them is there? Surely they were not expecting to actually start them if they got their peoples council?? Sounds very suspect that they need to be in power before they actually start working on any reforms does it not?

How can the EC get away with failing to perform its duty?

who says they are ..their duties are numerous..apparently.if its not fair/and right why waste 3.8 billion baht of our tax money...we may not be thai but we all chip in to pay for this.one way or another..wai2.gif we will all have to accept the result.but i would rather give my money to a charity if it isnt going to happen/aborted.
